@JustineCaseyFeldown Well since he specifically asked how this ice held up I was commenting on that. Nugget or flaker machines are wet ice by design. Don't play semantics.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

@SGH Hopefully I used it in the correct context or somebody will by to correct me on that.

All about the texture...hence why some would pay $500 for the ice machine. I was asking if it holds to form if stored in the freezer and when you pull it out if it can easily be broken up and return to original form.JustineCaseyFeldown said:
Are you asking if ice goes bad, or if it will still be ice?SkinnyV said:I like it, how does this stuff hold up if you filled a freezer with some for later use?
because i think the only issue is if you lose power and the ice magically becomes water
i think Husker may be right and it probably becomes hard masses which would defeat the purpose. But it does not hurt to ask.
i can tolerate my fridge ice in its crushed form...but I do like ice and use "lots" of it daily. Heck I round up my kids leftover ice sometime and finish it for them after dinner. Weird... but lightly flavore ice ( we drink 70% soda water mixed with 30% any soda around here) is a treat!
theres my cutting soda trick for addicts 70-80% Soda water crossed with non diet soda. Try it, it's plenty sweet enough.Seattle, WA -

I love the portability of the Opal, but that would never keep up with my ice usage.
Was so happy to get this to replace the Manitowoc I had. We use a lot of ice, especially when packing coolers. So easy to stick under the counter near the sink. Tapped water and used drain from sink, so plumbing was minimal. Just plugged it in and away we go.Two Large Eggs, 6 gal Cajun Fryer, and a MiniMax in Charlotte, NC - My New Table

Kinda disappointed...came back to this thread later tonight hoping to read some expansive essays on the nature and being of ice.

Yep. The thing that brings Carl back is a post about poop ice(I do miss the unit we had on the unit in Trauma, drink the water and chew the ice; meal all in one)caliking said:So... It takes an ice machine to bring you back to the fold... -
It does block up but separates just as easily as any bag of ice when dropped on the ground a time or two.
