Question for the masses, is gold grade worth the price difference? I believe previously not, but who better to ask.
-
At the moment with this sale, the price difference is $20/brisket. Worth it to try and see for yourself.Moleman said:Question for the masses, is gold grade worth the price difference? I believe previously not, but who better to ask.

And the deed has been done. Just went back online and placed another order. Got some briskets this time and some more filets.
Now to find the freezer room for the briskeys.
Thanks @HofstraJet for posting this and @SRFShane for the opportunity!
Cheers!

I don't even want to know. The black are the best I've ever had and they are $129-$159 when not on sale. I' ok with that. I don't want to feel like i'm getting screwed for not spending $200 a pop if they are that much betterHofstraJet said:

I can help. Two common things:Dobie said:I keep getting an error message that the promo code is invalid
1. It's only available on products on this page: http://www.snakeriverfarms.com/black-friday.html
2. Make sure you click "apply promo code" after you enter it.

This is just a crazy good deal!!! Thanks @SRFShane. I had been saving the one that I won for Christmas. Now I may just have to cook it up since I have more on the way!L x2, M, S, Mini and a Blackstone 36. She says I have enough now....eggAddict from MN!

I am on their email list and was chatting with Shane. I apparently entered my email wrong so I called in to order. I will have two 16 -18 pounders here by next Wednesday. The wife will be mad until she eats some I cooked. Heck for $5 to $6 a pound for Wagyu I couldn't pass that up. Now time to plan a meal around it and have friends over.

If @The Cen-Tex Smoker says the black are the best he's ever eaten... a guy had better take notice and jump on the deal. I cheaped out and went with Black as I just finished having a discussion about financial responsibility with my wife. The Cen-Tex Smoker said:

I was trying to apply the code to a 12-14 brisket and wouldn't work, selected a 14-16 and it applied. Both American Wagyu just different sizes.

I would have bought 8 if I had freezer space for them. Better than Franklin's, better than any I've ever had. They are that good. Can gold be that much better? @sgh says they are but like I said...I don't wanna know.minniemoh said:

Pro Tip: Let the wife know about the order. Place another order and tell the wife that they had a spilt shipment on the initial order.

Edit: I don't want to know either. If you've cooked em up better than Franklin's, you just saved me an expensive trip to Austin too.L x2, M, S, Mini and a Blackstone 36. She says I have enough now....eggAddict from MN! -
WOW! Wish I could have done more, but I have a freezer full over steaks and other things so just getting 2 briskets SWMBO is going to flip, but at $5 a lb you can't pass that up.DoubleEgger said:4 Briskets, 8 Flatiron steaks, and 4 racks of ribs are on the way.

So when cooking a Wagyu brisket, do you go by feel or temp? I was told they feel done early and should take it to 200 or so. Is that right?XL, WSM, Coleman Road Trip Gas GrillKansas City, Mo.

always feel. I've had them done at 185 and 205. Mostly around the 195-200 mark lately though. They feel very soft by 165 or so but they get way softer when they are truly rendered out. I would say that 190-195 is a safe bet to start poking around without risking overcooking it.Ladeback69 said:So when cooking a Wagyu brisket, do you go by feel or temp? It'll be tight but I'll make room. Might have to take the icemaker out. #prioritiesLadeback69 said:

@minniemoh - Since you have that SRF brisky available, here's my program to cure the post Thanksgiving turkey hang-over: The Saturday or Sunday after T'day I fire up a SRF brisket (black) and shift to a different meat coma. The one for that event arrived yesterday. Give it a go-Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. Regarding SRF black vs gold; I'm with @The_Cen_Tex_Smoker. I have not jumped into the gold for the same reason. Don't know if that's good or bad
