    I have one in my yard, but it's too small to get a decent amount of wood from trimmings.  If a storm damages it, I'll be all over it!

    I want nothing to do with crab-apple trees. My mom use to get her switches from one of several in our yard where i grew up. Man those hurt....and i unfortunately ran into them frequently.

    Please don't let this be a deterrent (which i am sure you want).....just had to get that off my chest.

    Very good to smoke with. Had an overgrown crabapple in the yard. Went to town trimming it multiple times. Can't kill those things! Anyway, let the wood dry for a few months. Free smoking wood

    That my friend is a damn funny response! Made Kay and I both laugh. :) Kay says you probably deserved all of those whippings! I'm sure Mom made you a better person because of it. Oh and we are sending you a tree for Christmas! Can you guess what kind?

    I had the same experience but I had to go get the switch that eventually would blister my backside.
