Simmer down yourself and practice what you preach dear hippy. This all started because you wanted to launch on Chick-fil-a. You couldn't let somebody like them (an opposing view to yours) so rather than leave it be (i.e. get along) you had to troll. I think the term is hypocrisy. Look it up.nolaegghead said:Simmer down, Fred. Try accepting the fact that there are people with other opinions in the world, and get along with them.Flint, Michigan -
If you must go to sonic, best to get the breakfast burrito when you're under the weather, best thing they make there - tots in it. If the chili cheese tots are in season, get those with everything on them, extra jalapeños.THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER

Fred, I simply stated their food isn't terrible, but I don't patronize them because they support hate groups. This is my decision, I never derided anyone for liking their food, I just laid out my opinion for what it's worth.Fred19Flintstone said:

What I said was "They're not terrible. I just don't dig chicken sandwiches. And they supported hate groups, so I just don't give them my money, just like I don't give any groups that support terrorism or hate money."
This (chkfla meddling with their non-profits) is well documented and has become a symbolic lightning rod between various ideologies).
Act 2: Then some guy (onedbguru) went off the reservation (of civility) and said "Hate groups??? I can think of no group that hates more than all of the leftist groups. Those who want to destroy Family and even FREE Speech."
Act 3: (much later on because I really don't care) I list the groups that they support that are dedicated to reducing, as a matter of record. Also in my response I listed the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).
Intermission: Let me point out that the SPLC is a respected group that fights against what you would call groups that do unchristian like stuff. The KKK is what spawned them. They fight for the civil rights of groups of people that are marginalized. They don't have any interest in destroying family or free speech. The irony, is, the people that trumpet onedbguru's rhetoric are clearly hiding behind catchwords of "freedom" and "family" but really they are against other people wanting to marry who they love, do what they want, etc without an oppressive environment. They really want the opposite. Laws to limit freedom, suppress free speech that they don't agree with because of their religion or ideology. Irony.
Act 4: Mind you, I've not called anyone names or attacked any ultra right wing radicals, or even called anyone that, overtly. You say: "Must you pollute every discussion with your ultra liberal political crap? Siting the Southern Poverty Law Center (an ultra liberal activist organization) for your proof is a bit biased. Anyway, we're just talking food here. Why don't you "Feel the Bern" someplace else? "
I reply "No". And put a link to the group so you can learn about the good work they do. Side note: We're talking about fast food on a bbq forum that's about home-cooked food? Interesting "hypocrisy" there. Look it up, as you said.
Act 5: onedbguru feels like any group that disagrees with his world view is a hate group. He says: "Sorry, but SPLC is the worst of all hate groups. They spew hate at anything they do not agree with. Just sayin'... "
Commentary on Act 5: How are they a hate group when they hate hate groups? Oh, because they disagree with your ultraconservative views.
Act 6: You call me liberal bla bla bla after I just say simmer down get along. Can't we all just get along?
(sigh).
Epilogue: I'm tired. Good nite, Fred.

That said, when I travel, I like trying new things, especially what I can't get in my home town of New Orleans. I'm not going to travel to San Antonio where I have family and eat at a Copland's. I'm going to eat some original family owned local food. If chik fil a is a warm blankie when you're traveling in those foreign lands, by all means stick your thumb in your mouth and snuggle up to one of their fast food sandwiches. Do what you want. That's what I do.

When traveling, we like to dine at Mom & Pop places. This weekend was a road trip. We drove five hours or so, I bought a saw, then we drove back home. Speed was important and Wilma likes Chick-fil-a. There's no snuggle or thumb sucking. We went to Slippery Rock, PA,and back in 12 hours total mission elapsed time. Not too shabby.Flint, Michigan

They funnel those donations to a whole host of entities who do cancer research, treatment, and screenings. The grants they've provided to Nobel laureates for cancer research, for example, certainly haven't represented money that has "stayed" with ACS.DoubleEgger said:
As mentioned by others, I don't care what companies do with their money but I do find it disingenuous that charities donate to other charities. Why would American Cancer Society need to donate to PP or any other charity? Last time I checked there wasn't a cure for cancer so it seems like they need the money. If I give money to a specific charity, it should stay there.Fred19Flintstone said:I find it funny that only conservative businesses are examined. Let's check out who supports Planned Parenthood with their abortion and baby parts retail business. Much more hate involved in this I think.

As far as the SPLC.... They list the American Border Patrol and a group that tried to block free benefits to illegal aliens. Black Lives Matter apparently isn't a hate group. I mean... Special rights, segregation, call for killing, a designated part of town to burn.Green egg, dead animal and alcohol. The "Boro".. TN

They're listed as a hate group largely due to their leader, Glenn Spencer. The Anti-Defamation League feels the same way, for what it's worth. It probably has something to do with articles he's written, like the one titled "Is Jew-Controlled Hollywood Brainwashing Americans?”henapple said:As far as the SPLC.... Doing some traveling later this week. Will make a point to eat fast food at some point. Any fast food. Will enjoy it, too.

Yeah when I am driving more than 4-5 hours it is definitely fast food. Sometimes I take it to a new level and eat gas station food. One of these days I am going to brave the tamale from RaceTrac.

Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg. -
How many miles do you think those have on them?SmokeyPitt said:Yeah when I am driving more than 4-5 hours it is definitely fast food. Sometimes I take it to a new level and eat gas station food. One of these days I am going to brave the tamale from RaceTrac.

Yeah I think that is why I haven't tried them. I don't think I would get far before I had to make another emergency stop. The gas station tamale is probably best consumed while sitting on the toilet.Lit said:

I salute you. Bravery is defined in many ways. You have expanded the parameters.SmokeyPitt said:Yeah when I am driving more than 4-5 hours it is definitely fast food. Sometimes I take it to a new level and eat gas station food. One of these days I am going to brave the tamale from RaceTrac.

No pic, but I swear I saw some Hispanic kids eating those tamales last week. This is Dalton, people, there's a Mexican joint in every corner!

Most Abrahamic religions, that includes Christianity, Judaism and Islam, at least by the orthodox, subscribe to the textual tradition of "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy".THEBuckeye said:Hey @nolaegghead,

By that definition, the Obama administration is a hate group by aiding a state that sponsors terrorism. Remember the Iran deal?JohnInCarolina said:

So now . . . Fred's okay with discussing politics?

Fred is of the belief we should regress and live the caveman life like the neanderthals. Justice system: wooden club Food acquisition: wooden club Conflict resolution: wooden club Dating: wooden club

The latter has merit.

Um, I think I need to hide my wooden club. Made dating so much easier. MBW uses it for conflict resolution. She is pretty good with at thing. If she played professional baseball, she would be batting in the four spot.nolaegghead said:Fred is of the belief we should regress and live the caveman life like the neanderthals. My neighbor dropped off about 8# of homemade scrapple the other weekend.
He helps a friends family every year when they do their butchering. Usually a steer and a couple of hogs. They do it the first weekend in February and again in March.
They make their own scrapple from the trimmings of the hogs and steer along with trimmings from deer season.
This is the only scrapple my wife and I eat, other than some from the local butcher.
Needs to be sliced thin and fried crispy. Served with either ketchup or locally made apple butter.
