Greatest play was Anthony Davis blocking the final tarheel shot in Rupp.Eggcelsior said:

Dream on. Pelphrey was guarding Laetner, and he has acknowledged he was told not to make any contact to avoid the foul. He even said he didn't defend the shot. It was nothing more than an uncontested free throw.JohnInCarolina said:
Laettner had a guy on him. He made a move to shake the defender, and then hit the turnaround jumper. As for the inbound not being guarded - this was a length of the court pass. You can put the entire team on the baseline if you want, and Grant Hill still gets that pass into Laettner. It's not like the guys on the baseline can mug the guy making an inbounds pass, never mind a baseball toss.YukonRon said:@Acn it won the tournament. Laetner's shot was not even guarded, nor was the in bound pass. Pitino hall of fame coach - BS!
It's too bad Kentucky fans just can't accept that this game, and it was really a great one on both sides, just came down to a great play at the end.
great game no doubt, krywifhvcfjueyivky out coached Pitino. Greatest shot ever? Na.

Definitely would have generated more discussion that just sending my youngest off to college.
Your youngest to college is far more important.
@YukonRon, you are probably right on the first point (we'll see. regardless, it has been a very good run) and definitely right on the second.
Good luck to the Cats on the 17th. I'm pretty sure they are favored that night.

Thanks @YukonRon - much appreciated. As much as I miss good bourbon and cold beer I much prefer being a father to my three kids and a husband to my wife......who by all accounts could/should have left my sorry ass and no one would have faulted her. It is, by far, the hardest thing I've done in my life but also the most rewarding. I got your 6 on this. If I can ever help in any way, let me know.
8.5 years is incredible my friend, work it everyday. You got this.

Hey I am totally joking on here, I like college basketball, but, as odd as it may seem to be as a UK fan, I like football way better than basketball. Trust me, I can take a hit, LOL. I could not tell you who UK plays in basketball, or even the players on the team. Just like having fun on here.Foghorn said:YukonRon said:

BTW, coach K's record speaks for itself. Great coach, great program.

Yesterday, when this thread was started, my youngest turned 20. We are finished with the teenage years...not that they were bad. As kids do these days, he tweeted the following: "I love how in my family a special dinner is one that my mom creates. Better than any restaurant I know of... #loveit #thanksmama #blessed"
On the menu last night, his requests: Filets (Egged, of course), mashed potatoes (garden potatoes), garden green beans, and fresh baked rolls. For dessert, a family favorite chocolate cherry cake. Delish!

It's good to see you thinking Kentucky beating the greatest college program that also had the greatest coach ever is the best play.YukonRon said:

It shows a lot of respect to the most elite, especially since they play in the same conference as Duke, which also happens to be the best conference ever. -
@eggcelsior - 5 rings to 2 might suggest that Coach Smith isn't even the best coach in the history of the research triangle area.
Also got to give mad props to the Wisconsin fans that chanted 38-1 while Karl-Anthony Towns was taking free throws and booed Tyus Jones every time he touched the ball when the Timberwolves and Bucks played a preseason game in Madison.LBGE

It's not all about rings. It would be nice to see them with more head to head time as well as Dean spending his whole career in the 3-point and shot clock era. Hell, he is the reason for the invention of the shot clock.Acn said:@eggcelsior - 5 rings to 2 might suggest that Coach Smith isn't even the best coach in the history of the research triangle area.

Not to mention the sheer numbers of NBA stars that Dean helped mold.Eggcelsior said:

True, and Dean is certainly one of the 4-5 people who is legitimately in the discussion and I know you can make a compelling argument to support him, as I'm sure you'd acknowledge that I could make a compelling case for Coach K. Neither of us is 'wrong' here, although I'm still looking forward to you buying multiple rounds of beer after Duke beats UNC this season.Eggcelsior said:
