Wondering given the time on the forum, why the mods finally decided to honor the "please delete" buffaloed thread. Oh, well.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint.

We may never know my friend. But in the end, it went the way of the buffalo. I never did figure out what the three posts were even about. Oh well, the plot thickenslousubcap said:Wondering given the time on the forum, why the mods finally decided to honor the "please delete" buffaloed thread. Oh, well.

Kinda feel like this at work today......

Sounds like one of those flat griddles for breakfast food might be right up your alley.SGH said:Just got home from another all nighter. Sitting here resting and winding down. This work crap is really messing up my cooking schedule!! -
I keep toying with the idea of getting one. A good friend of mine Paul Shirley at Shirley Fabrication is tinkering around with a prototype of a extra heavy duty version of a griddle. Its 3/4 thick. I will probably end up with the prototype once he works the bugs out. Time will tell my friend.DoubleEgger said:

Watching the Deep Blue back into port. The pic was taken from a little over a mile away. She is currently the largest spool vessel in the world and holds all deepwater S & J lay world records. (Shell Stones Mainline 9,500 feet bottom depth). Getting ready to start spooling up our line.

The overall effort required to put gas in my tank is amazing.

The technical difficulty of most manufacturing is beyond expectations in my experience. However, I do agree, offshore drilling is exceptional.DoubleEgger said:The overall effort required to put gas in my tank is amazing. -
Watching the Braves. Not sure why....

Most things you can rework. I imagine fixing something at 10k+ ft is pretty hard. Imagine the pre-planning involved! Its not like the sea floor is smooth and you can't exactly send down dozers or graders.theyolksonyou said:

@Ozzie_Isaac I've been in facilities that produce golf carts, saw blades, sockets, coated sheet metal, Ceramics, and of course, all stages of carpet manufacturing. All were fascinating, had their difficulties, etc... No doubt drilling is way up there on the scale. Also, dangerous.

I definitely agree. I have been fortunate in my career to be involved in many different types of manufacturing. There is so much that goes into things most people take for granted.theyolksonyou said:

Most folks take common everyday items for granted. They have no idea of what it actually takes to bring something from concept to completion. Its mind bending what it takes to produce somethings. Gasoline is a great example of this. If you could watch the entire process of fuel production from the upstream side all the way through the downstream side, you would wonder how could gas be less than $10.00 a gallon. Modern state of the art refineries, floating assets and production topsides cost in the billions. Wells, mainlines, SCR's and umbilicals are in the several million range. Yet we still want cheap fuel.DoubleEgger said:I definitely agree. I have been fortunate in my career to be involved in many different types of manufacturing. Look what got hit just up the road from where I work. A 33 point non typical. You don't see many of these in a life time. It's by far the biggest and most points that I have ever seen in real life.
