Double Cheeseburgers

Had a hankering for cheeseburgers Friday night. The kind you probably had as a kid with plain ole Kraft American slices on the cheapest smallest buns at the store. And no veggies, 'cept some pickles and diced onions. None of this new fancy high falutin' burgers. Mrs. G divided the pound of meat up into 4 patties, no idea what she put in 'em or on 'em. Lit the Egg and got it up to something or other F.
Threw on the buns when they were almost done and topped 'em with cheese. Is that stuff even really considered cheese?
Steak fries and a beer. Does life get any better?

I think it's the fakest cheese you can get, but on cheeseburger like you whipped up there or on a skinny, white bread grilled cheese, it's absolutely perfect.

Nice looking grub!

Pretty fancy toasting those buns. Otherwise, looks like the kind of satisfaction of the purest and simplest of cooks. Well done! (Not the burger, I hope - medium rare for me!)It's a 302 thing . . .

Nice job! So, are you having the second one for lunch today or did it go to Mrs. G?---------------------------------------------------------------------------------Well, "spa-Peggy" is kind of like spaghetti. I'm not sure what Peggy does different, if anything. But it's the one dish she's kind of made her own.____________________Aurora, Ontario, Canada

Your story reminds me of a cook book I found a good while ago. It was a Alice's Restaurant cookbook. There were no ingredient amounts....just a little of this and a little of that. Anyway, we have burgers once a week around my house. You can't beat them....confessing...I do put lettuce, maters and sauteed onions on it thought. I am with you on the american cheese.Ellijay GA with a Medium & MiniMax

It never hurts to go back in time, some of my best memories are from dad cooking burgers on the grill. Thanks for sharing...

Love this, you can study, practice and smoke expensive cuts of beef...but in the end, it is ALWAYS good to go back to your roots and have a basic staple of childhood! They look great....good job!KAB, DOT, Grill Grates, Smokeware Cap
