    Late to this thread. Obviously, all of the problems are the fault of Fox News and its viewers. Is Lanny Davis an imposter on this forum?

    The mayor is doing all she can to lead from behind and give the looters room to destroy so that their fragile self esteem is not further damaged. Free molotov cocktails are in order because of the inherent dangers of home manufacture - green inflammables will be used of course. I think she is warming up for a cabinet position.

    Fred, I read news from everywhere.  I can't say I get most of my news from any single source, but I do enjoy NPR and PBS.  I try to cobble my news from multiple, disparate sources.  I don't get news from network TV.  Except maybe the weather.  I wish you luck in your quest for the truth.  I think you will need it.

    Joining the thread late.  Control the language, control the debate.  The left is very good at this, one could even say masterful at it.  Think extremism.  Left-wing organizations are not cited as extreme, or even, left-wing for that matter in major media outlets.  On the other hand, when right-wing organizations are cited, they are indeed cited as 'right-wing' or 'conservative', and more often than not--'extreme'.  It's just the way the game is played these days--control the language, control the debate.  Also, consider that when you enter into a disagreement with someone on the left, how often you are quickly cast into the category of  'S.I.X.H.I.R.B.': Sexist, Intolerant, Xenophobic, Homophobic, Islamaphobic, Racist, Bigoted' (hat tip, Dennis Prager).  Classic Saul Alinsky tacticts: besmirch and besmear, these are the tools of the left.  You must be stupid if you are conservative, certainly not well-educated.  You must be uninformed if you watch Fox news.   The list goes on and on and the attempt to silence disagreement is obvious--sadly, this has even become true within university systems--again, control the language, control the debate.  No issues will be settled within this thread.  From what I have been able to gather thus far, most posts tend to be self-serving.  A bit of a cathartic experience for the contributor.  And I'm certainly no better or any different.

    Yes. Now Hillary wants to "restore civility" using the federal government as the cudgel. The first order of business is to free felons from jail. They will make good Democrats along with the millions of "dreamers" and the amnesty hordes. While she is at it, she wants to "restore civility to markets." I think we can guess what civil markets mean in the brave new world. None of this will be undertaken with an explicit political philosophy because socialist totalitarianism is not very attractive to say out loud. In the meantime I will wait for PBS and NPR to get to the bottom of her scandals while I tend to the emails building up on my "private server."
