Say it ain't so, my world is crashing. Waiting for the chicken to defrost and saw this on CBC, they created a food truck and bought the Twitter/Yelp/Urban Spoon reviews, among others for a completely fake Food Truck business called Cheezed Off. 
Worth a view if you have a moment.

    I'm always skeptical of reviews.  You have to look at many of them and do some filtering.  I'm glad the guvmnt is cracking down on these "PR" scam companies.  I'm a consumer advocate.

    Don't think anything is "safe", I was surprised of the estimate of 15% fake reviews, thought it would be closer to twice that, more like 33%.

    I love the thread title! It got a pretty hearty laugh from me. Good story. Like you, I would have thought at least 33% of any reviews to be bogus.

    it may well be 30% of the reviews are fake. They may not have identified all the fake ones.  Plus, you found this article on the interwebs. ;)

    @Canugghead - yeah, just poking fun in a circular fashion.  Note winking face emoticon. 

    I'll bet the percentage of fake reviews falls off dramatically with an increase in reviews.  If a place is new and has a handful of reviews, IMO it may as well have none.  Count on word of mouth, newspaper food sections or just do it old school - go eat there and see for yourself.
