Man I bought a new mini 2 Fridays ago then ordered the mini max a couple days later then yesterday I saw my local Costco marked the remaining yeti 110 qt down to $299. Think I'm gonna tell her I need to go get gas and just get it.

You guys trip me out with the SWMBO stuff, did you loose you're pair when you said "I Do "?

I know you were kind of just giving them the business here, but... dropping $650 for a rather small Egg isn't an easy call for everyone here. The thing with SWMBOs is, it can be important to know the difference between having a pair and just being a ****.

It wasnt about the amount of money, thats a financial decision that frankly you know if you can responsibly afford the item or not. The comment was directed to the sentiment on this forum by some that thier wife must be obeyed and they need permission to make daily decisions. It comes across as derogatory and resentful in some cases when guys refer to thier wife in that way but guys submit to it. If thats the nature of the relationship and a guy chooses to live that way then dont whine about it. At least not without checking with SWMBO first to get approval to whine. Flame on.
You will never see me use the acronym.  I think the term is pretty silly and isn't even close to being an accurate description of my household.  She doesn't run me and I don't run her.  I respect her enough to have common courtesy and tell her I'm buying a new toy, and she does the same.  She saw it used in a thread and asked what it meant.  After I told her, she said "that's pretty stupid".  I also like to spread the wealth...if I buy something nice and realize that she hasn't spoiled herself in a bit, i'll pick her up something too.  Marriage is about mutual respect, not asking mommy for permission.  As Dobie mentioned....you know if you can afford it or if you can't.  If you can lower the cost by getting rid of something you don't use, do it even if you can easily afford it.

I also know that most don't truly believe and follow the O in the term, but I still won't use it.  lol

I have always viewed the term as being tongue in cheek. My point was only that, for some people, $650 is a not insignificant amount of money. Discussing things like that with your spouse isn't about "obeying," it's all about respect. And it's just a little bit rich that folks would criticize some for using SWMBO as demeaning on the one hand and then not having the balls to do whatever the heck they want on the other. But hey, different strokes I guess.

^^^^ +1. John I think you nailed it right there. We both buy what we want and generally when we want it, if it is a more than $200 or so we discuss before we purchase. It's just a respect thing. @NPHuskerFL - dude you be getting rich on $40 per week, we do $30 for the tidbit stuff excluding gas and groceries. That is an allowance that we agreed on and follow loosely. Lol

@cazzy - the $5 you have stuffed under the seat cushion in your canoe does not qualify as an offshore account, in spite of your insistence.

Start by referring to her as "my wife" instead of SWMBO

Thus why I refuse to refer to my Latina Goddess as anything but, my wife or my bride.
I respect her. I had in the past used the SWMBO line but, as tongue and cheek. No more. :-q

@minninemoh-Great thread-and you likely thought you would get pearls of wisdom about the MM.  So much for that.  Regardless, I'm sure SWMBO will approve. :)>-

@lousubcap - thanks. I thought it was a funny "argument" for why it made sense to buy a bigger or new egg. While my wife and I have many discussions about spending, retirement, car purchases, kid purchases (not buying kids of course!), she knows I'm passionate about egging and she cooks less as a result. She's a great cook but that is really a benefit she enjoys.  I certainly wasn't trying to ruffle feathers with the "SWMBO" thing as I always use tongue-in-cheek and she thinks it's funny. Loosen up guys!

I have a large egg and a SWMBO.

While she loves my cooking from the egg, I doubt she would see the need for a mini-max too.

I could buy it tomorrow and she would ask "seriously? That would be the end of it.

We have an empty nest ( except the egg of course) and just don't see the need for a second egg (yet).
