Paper plate redemption

Forgive me my forum brethren. My last two cooks on the forum have been on paper plates. My wife works full time as an accountant and I work part time and nap the other half. Our two year old son takes up what little time that should be spent on washing dishes so we eat on paper most nights. (we do buy the nice paper when our meager budget allows)

Lo and behold (henapple, this is the correct spelling)
Chicken teriyaki with rice served in a pineapple bowl
The sauce: 1 part soy, 1 part merin sake, one part sugar, two inches of fresh ginger grated. Simmer over med heat (don't burn the sugar) till it gets nice and thick.
The bird: I got a huge pack of bone in thighs for $1 a pound and cut the bone out and left the skin on. Cook hot and fast making lots of crunchy bits.
The pics tell the rest of the story. Fun fact: In Japanese, "teri" means to shine and "yaki" means to cook. There is no such thing as bottled teriyaki sauce in Japan. You must "cook" till it "shines" Also, dark meat chicken is twice as expensive as white in Japan. I say they know what they are doing.

Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here.

That's ok, I'm pretty sure I would eat your paper plates/bowls after they contained your last few cooks.

Thighs are by far the best cut off chicken. Looks and sounds delicious. Love the serving ware!

Nice cook buddy but the cost of that plate has to be $$......Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd.

I'll beholding some of that. ..Green egg, dead animal and alcohol. The "Boro".. TN

What are these "paper plates" you speak of? More times than not, we eat off the fine china at our house. See?

I love me some paper plates and the Mikasa ceramic plates we grabbed when we got our first apartment together. We keep talking about upgrading to "grown-up" serveware but whatever, man.
-
We only buy the best of paper plates- they are labelled Chinette - pretty sure that means they have more than paper in them....OK - have to ask what the heck is 2 inches of grated ginger? I know size doesn't matter but come on, depending on how big your root is.....could make quite a difference.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

My thoughts on paper plates.
I used to use them all the time. But I was still running the dishwasher for the other things needed to prep meals & utensils. So I figured, I'm running the DW so why am I using/utilizing paper plates, as I have a cupboard full of plates?? I stopped using paper plates & saved $$$

Me too. My son has never had soda or a microwave dinner. He ate nothing but fresh and whole food for at least a year. I cook for him more than I do for myself.nolaegghead said:We run a load in the dishwasher almost once a day.Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here. -

I think the present discounted value of the cost of cheap washable plates (including the value of your time) is much cheaper than paper plates.

I do use paper plates, but usually only with a large crowd.

Sir, I invite you to come wash my plates and debate the value of toilet paper with me. Just a hack that makes some $hitty BBQ.... -
If I took a giant dump on your kitchen table, would you use dry paper to clean it? I think not. That would just smear it around. Think about it.Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here.
