I'm not ashamed at all to say that I do a lot of cooking indoor on the stovetop. I've been having burner issues on my cooktop and had a repair guy quote me $225 to fix. Well, I said screw that and started searching for a replacement. A few minutes on Craigslist netted me a like new, barely used Viking Professional cooktop for a mere $300....Installing tomorrow.

Good score. I'm a Craigslist hound since the recession first hit people will dump things crazy cheap for quick cash. I got my kitchen aide professional mixer for $50

Excellent buy, good for you. Here in the great white north, gas is not so popular -unless you can afford to vent it.Gas is great, love the side burner on my old gasser and the turkey blow torch is amazing for the wok. Viking makes a great product...enjoy it.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

True dat. People who cook a lot generally prefer gas. So much more accurate and efficient than anything else. We have induction and can't stand it. Had gas in our old kitchen and can't wait to get it back. Not a lot of induction tops in commercial kitchens.SmokinDAWG82 said:

Gas rocks!

We have a nice Wolf gas cooktop which I like. But I love my $75 electric induction burner for cast iron pots and pans. Plus, I can take it outside and simmer some bbq sauce next to the egg.

I have a Wolf dual fuel range and a Wolf two "burner" induction top. Wouldn't trade either. Love the small induction element for hot tubbingjeroldharter said:We have a nice Wolf gas cooktop which I like. But I love my $75 electric induction burner for cast iron pots and pans. DLeggett said:I'll tell you when gas is the greatest. After a hurricane, Ivan came through NW Florida in 2004 and for 9 days we had no electricity but we had a gas stove! That and our grill fed our neighbors while the electricity was out. We also had a gas grill that saw some action during that time.Where are you in the Panhandle? Pensacola here.
