Pizza night w/ the High School Basketball Girls

Last week I asked for some tips on cooking pizzas for a large number for my wife's basketball team and tonight was the party. Some of the girls did not know that pizza could be made at home and they were wondering when Papa Johns was coming over. They had a great time and thanks to all that helped me make a better pizza. My wife and I both teach and coach high school kids and we love to give our kids opportunities to do things that they never get to do at their houses. I cooked at 550 with the place setter legs down on top of the grate. I used three crushed cans on top of the place setter and stone on top of that. The choices for toppings were: pepperoni, sausage, ham, bacon, black olives, green peppers, onion, pineapple, and mushrooms. We set up an assembly line and the girls partnered up and made their pizzas. I did not get any great pictures of the food, but it was great. The last photo is of a girl that did not like crust so we took some wheat bread and put the toppings on and put it on the stone. She said it was good. Little Caesars gave me the boxes so the girls could have an easy way to bring me the pizza out to the egg and me put their pizza in after I cooked it. The boxes also made for easy clean up as the girls ate out of them.

How cool is it to get an assembly line and make your own pizza? I love having people over to do this, they have a blast!
Here's an idea for your next team cook, use a wok, set out raw meats (shrimp, chicken, steak,etc..) and let the girls pick their sauces and veggies and wok it up! I love that even more because it is a little cleaner and amazing to cook!
Great work man!

Great job!! I'm sure those young ladies will be remembering that for many years to come, because you let them do it for themselves. And perhaps they will do something similar when it comes time for them to teach someone a new skill.

@jrog74 - nice job. They'll be talking about the "weird green grill" for years to come.

Great job, and so rewarding. Some "teachers" treat it as an 8 to 5 job, obviously you do not, your kids and the community are so much better off due to your efforts. (And it probably doesn't seem like any effort at all).....Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

Thanks y'all. I was just trying to show off our cooking skills we have here in Dyersburg. I didn't expect so many nice compliments. We try to do something like this every year for the teams we coach. For the football team this year I took 10 bags of charcoal and lit it and hot a hot dog roast. We invited the dance team and cheerleaders. It was a great time. Anytime we get the kids together it is a great time. Thanks again.

You never know how you touch some of the kids lives till years later, Coaching is like being an extra parent. Never sell short what you do. You have made a difference and changed some lives and don't you ever forget it!
