Any issues for the eggs with cooking in cold weather? I wouldn't think so, but wanted to ask before lighting them up this weekend.
Thanks!

Will take a bit longer to get to cooking temp (ambient driven). Also be mindful that upon shutdown the dome can freeze to the base (depending on gasket). I use strips of aluminum foil around the base to prevent freezing.
Adult beverages do stay colder longer so that's in the plus column.
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -

Never a problem for me, same process just a little slower getting to temp as Fish said and quicker to come down if you need to drop the temp. I'd say the vents need a little more air for the same temp for me winter vs summer.Love you bro!
-
Do it all the time - even in pretty extreme winter temps.

Use a golf tee or something similar to prop open your egg to keep the gaskets from freezing together.

I've cooked in the -20's and no issue. Original base from 15 years ago."The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

Thanks for the reminder. I'm about to go put some soda straws in between the lids(I don't golf).

Thanks everyone. Happy to hear it’s not an issue.Even though I’m running naked at the moment, will still prop up the lids to avoid any surprises. Two Large Eggs, 6 gal Cajun Fryer, and a MiniMax in Charlotte, NC - My New Table

Doing a prime rib in my XL, in Louisville with about 10” of snow and ice on the ground, an d another accumulation of 3-6” recently updated for additional accumulation. I use Double Egger’s advice with a golf tee, or Cal’s strips of Aluminum foil, no issues.I use a blow torch for fast lighting and Rockwood for long , hot burning fires.

The only issue I have with the golf tee is that it will create a decent air gap to enable the fire to continue to slowly burn after "shutdown". Now if you gap it once the fire is out and before anything freezes together then by all means.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! I have one of Ron's special gaskets that is at least 8 years old and my xl sits out in the cold, uncovered and it's only ever stuck once. Maybe it's the lack of humidity, but I don't have that issue and I've egged below zero FLove you bro!

The other consideration is that Egging in the cold may engender some meat shrinkage.
-
I love egging in the cold. not the damp wet cold, the dry sunny cold, The heat of the egg, maybe my fire pit going and a good hot cup of tea. very pleasant.
this was a cook of Mac and Cheese last winter, just a happy happy place.

North Carolina isn't cold. Try central Wisconsin.

My egg never froze shut, but low and behold it did. I forgot i replaced the base and dome and have the oem felt, and not @RRP rutland!! Using the fire in the bottom per the video above. Thanks!!!!The Dude: This is a very complicated case, Maude. You know, a lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what-have-you's. And, uh, lotta strands to keep in my head, man. Cleaned off the snow boob and made an awesome pork loin last night.

Minus-10 air temp is the coldest I have egged in and there were no issues other than what has been stated previously about taking longer coming up to temp and using a bit more fuel. Foil works great to keep gasket from sticking.Stillwater, MN
