Honeybun recipe got me to thinking

RRP
RRP Posts: 26,128
@MrCookingNurse06 post got me to thinking about another combination which I plan to  try.

Start out with English muffins sliced in half horizontally.

Spread Philly cream cheese liberally on both of the cut halves and dust with some tasty DP rub such as Swamp Venom to add some heat.

Lay thinly sliced "coins" of jalapenos on one side before putting the top half back on.

Crisscross raw bacon around and over and then pin to keep it all intact while egging and flipping.

With all that thickness I bet that sandwich concoction could withstand direct heat without burning the muffins yet still cooking that bacon after flipping.

Either eat like a sandwich OR cut it into quarters or eights and pin them with a visible toothpick and serve!

@RRP - can't push against any of that.  English muffins, CC, jalas and bacon, what's not to like.
Give it a go and let us know the end-game.  I would also consider smearing a thin layer of a favorite q sauce on the muffin before the bacon wrap.
I may roll with this in the near term as I have some smoked CC dusted with Swamp Venom at the ready.

If you do this, put some pepper jelly on the cream cheese.

@Dyal_SC - thanks for the reminder as the only reason I have the smoked CC with Swamp Venom is because I enjoy that with the Terrapin Farms hot pepper bacon jam you ran out here several months ago.  Game on!

That plan sounds like the beginning of a fairly good grilled cheese sandwich.

    general observation to share:

if you are ever at a point and time or location in your life where you feel lost, uncertain, bored, etc…. and then someone in that locale or situation says “honeybun recipe got me to thinking” … you are probably safe and ok.  not only to listen up to what follows but probably in the greater scheme of things.

it just seems really really unlikely that the quote would be a prelude to danger. this is not absolute, and i am sure some creatives here could spin it.

for example maybe a 10% ratio where a stranger could say “you know what i really like to do with honey buns?” where i would stick around for the 2nd half.  but “honeybun recipe got me to thinking” closer to 99%.

    happy friday

The bakery was bustling with its morning crowd when a tall, mysterious figure walked in. His face was obscured by a wide-brimmed hat, and his long coat trailed behind him. He lingered at the counter, staring at the trays of cookies, muffins, and honeybuns with an unsettling intensity.

“I was thinking about a honeybun recipe,” he said, his voice low and oddly calm.

The baker, trying to lighten the mood, chuckled nervously. “Well, you’ve come to the right place. Freshly baked this morning.”

The stranger smiled—a slow, unnatural grin. Before anyone could react, the room descended into chaos. His transformation was swift and horrifying, revealing a monstrous creature with claws sharp enough to slice through bone. Screams filled the air as he attacked the unsuspecting customers, leaving a grisly scene in his wake.

With the bakery silent, the monster turned his attention to the kitchen. Gathering bowls and mixing tools, he began a gruesome task: combining flour and sugar with blood harvested from his victims. He kneaded the crimson dough with precision, shaping it into cheerful cookies and placing them in colorful boxes labeled “School Lunch Program.”

The room smelled of copper and baked goods when the creature finally vanished, leaving the bakery empty—except for the tray of freshly baked cookies, their deep red hue promising horrors untold.
