Are you keeping it simple or going down the self-watering rabbit hole like this fool did few years ago?

Excuse the rant. What a waste of time and expenses for me ... watched a bunch of videos, bought PVC pipes, sand, landscape fabric, at least the wine juice buckets were donated by a neighbour. Went through the whole nine yards with reservoir under a false bottom, hole at top of reservoir for excess water overflow, sand wrapped in fabric protruding through centre of false bottom to wick water up, PVC pipe with cap for filling, blah, blah, blah,

Didn't notice any 'wow' results and super messy to clean up at end of summer, maybe it's just us. Ended up getting rid of them and added fabric containers next to our raised bed, much happier. Lesson learned.

Bonus as it's NYC and double bonus it's not DOGE.  Enjoy as I am sure you will.

I find your comments quite humorous, as they hit quite close to home!

I did exactly the same thing, with the self watering bucket thing.  The only thing that differed in my experience with them was that I planted super hot peppers in them (bhuts, scorpions, habs, etc) and figured I could easily move the whole shootinmatch into our upstairs loft to try and extend the growing season.  The pails/buckets were easy enough to move and proved to be easy to maintain (fill the bottom reservoir and walk away).  However what I didn't take into account was the aphid factor (unrelated to the bucket set-up of course) that I introduced into our house, and ONTO my wife's myriad of house plants.  Needless to say, the buckets ended up in a heap in the yard, never to be used again, and I ended up in the doghouse for what seemed like an eternity.  Little known fact...aphids are born pregnant!  Also a little known fact, once introduced into a closed environment, aphids are VERY hard to get rid of.

The bucket experiment started off with much hope and promise, but quickly spiralled down the proverbial rabbit hole, never to be revisited in the future.

No self-watering! I figured that I'll need to water these twice a day in the hot Indiana summer.

@DoubleEgger - just watched the day eight Grand Sumo Highlights program I recorded and was not surprised to see the shin Yokozuna Hoshoryu lose a third bout. His last two losses were kiboshi so monetary and prestige at the same time.
Sorry for the late reply. The wife and I just got caught up to Day 9. I didn’t expect Hoshoryu to do very well because of the extra things you have a learn as a Yokozuna, the publicity etc. I expected him to look better than this though.

Another gift to me is that he is able to start driving on his own within the week.  He can be bringing his other two brothers to work and back. This will be life-changing.
Congrats for that. I am still some years away, but that’s a moment I look forward to!

As many here have experienced, a license to drive a car is a reward for your insurance company.  I generated that reward in my youth and my two children returned the favour (nod).  Be careful what you wish for-especially at the ripe old age of 15.

@kl8ton Nice gift, and congrats on your son's new milestone. If I may digress, Cutco brings back not so sweet memories...our oldest was in high school when she got recruited by Cutco, after a fairly comprehensive training she was told she had to buy a whole set to use as demo when making sales calls, IIRC it was around $1k, she passed  :o

I sat through the training in high school but passed in a different way.... Walked out. They promised $10 an hour. A relatively high wage at that time. Well each appointment that you land should take you about an hour and you get paid $10 per appointment. I did some mathing and decided on no.

is that the same as metoprolol. they changed my meds so often a few years ago i dont remember what they did to me and why they changed each one. i was tipping 185/107 at one time. losartan put me on the floor in a tight ball for a few hours, that one messed me up, lisinapril had me falling over backwards. diuretics worked best for me in the end as well as stopping all pain killers for my back. hope they get you back on track quick
