Opinion requires no proofs or links. By deduction if he is replaced in the election he is likely unable to get the chance to pardon Hunter. But actually a lot of the video that I have been watching is MSNBC, CNN, Bill Maher etc all interviewing key democrats. You can find most of the stories on Yahoo who reposts the New York Times and the others that I have mentioned. Spend a little time watching formerly Biden friendly sources.

I think there are some people speculating he may pardon Hunter, I just think that's contrary to everything he has very consistently been saying and I haven't seen him egregiously talking out of both sides of his mouth.  He may yet pardon him, my point it there is little to draw that conclusion from that is credible beyond speculation by people that get paid to speculate, regardless of what network.

Now the Dr Jill thing, I struggle to true that with everything we've known about her. She certainly doesn't seem to be motivated by power or wealth or isolate herself from the unwashed masses.  Has that been a running narrative that I've missed through Joe's 12 years in the White House?

I'm open to something that suggests otherwise, but I don't think any of this makes sense. Even if Biden drops out as the nominee, he fills out his term and there's nothing that should prevent him from providing a pardon before leaving office if desired.

Unless he is removed immediately by the 25th amendment process. In that case Harris immediately becomes president and can be nominated as the democratic nominee for election in November. Unlikely I admit, but legally possible.

If Jewish space lasers hit him from outer space, that could also prevent him from pardoning Hunter.  Slightly more likely, he just doesn't pardon him.

I honestly don't understand the fascination with Hunter.

Now, if Trump wins and on day one fires Garland and shuts down the various indictments and cases against him, is that better or worse?

Considering that new presidents always appoint a new cabinet including attorney general, that would pretty much be a given. For Garland at least.

the responses to my search “Will Biden pardon Hunter” brought up all the early June articles where answer from Joe was “no”. Comparing that to search results for “Will trump pardon j6” was obvious which pardon event and candidate Americans should be worried about and voting to avoid. Unless they are a victim of believing a “bull$h1t artist” then they need to rehab from that trauma first on their journey to responsible (instead of emotional) voting.

What’s weird is up and down the ticket, it would be better if we could vote more for candidates than party lines.  When all they do is vote along party lines once elected it makes it way more emotional and partisan. a three party system would be a better dynamic but they always evolve to two.

All of the likely options at this point carry an incredible amount of risk.  And the Democratic party is one that is very risk adverse.

    We are friggin screwed.

Since the waning years of the Reagan era we've known mental acuity is not a requirement to be president.  The Nixon era reinforced that ethics and morality are required.
In light of that, should not the calls for resigning from the race be directed to Trump rather than Biden?

Agree, but that's not really the question, just scene setting.

How do you compare Trump directing the justice department to drop all investigations, charges, trials, etc. against himself (which I believe he's said repeatedly) vs the speculation that Biden could pardon Hunter?

That's fine.  Just disappointed you won't weigh in on what Trump has said he'll do when you raised what-if speculation about Biden pardoning Hunter.

For what it's worth, I hope Biden doesn't pardon Hunter.

Our elected officials need to be better than us, lead by example.  That's what made America great.

The irony is that while Joe Biden might not actually pardon his son Hunter, I can almost guarantee that any Democrat who might replace him certainly would.

I'm having a hard time understanding this.
I've had many, many moments and even afternoons where my brain just freezes and I can't follow a train of thought.  And that began 30 years ago.  Yeah, Biden had a bad night that night, but he sounds just fine most of the time, especially the next day at his rallies.
And, does trump not have mental lapses, with his references to Hilary, and Pelosi, and sharks and boat batteries, all sprinkled with a dusting of covfefe?
And even if VP Harris has to take his place, they are still the only acceptable choice in this terrible race; never, never forget...

I think a lot of people think he should drop and will say that in a poll, but 1) they'll vote for him in a race against Trump anyway, 2) a new candidate reshuffles the deck for some % of voters and that's risky, and 3) undecideds are still a wildcard. I would add, Biden staying in probably results in a lower voter turnout, I think some % of younger voters will probably just be too discouraged to participate.

Why couldn't Biden just kill the orange SOB and claim it was a presidential duty?  He could delay the trial as taught by trump until he either died or was too old for prison.

I’ve been thinking about this, a lot, lately.
We could easily argue that a prime “official duty” of ANY elected official is a part of their Oath, “…to defend the US Constitution against all enemies, foreign AND DOMESTIC”.  We don’t need a senate trial or a SC “decision” to determine Insurrection; we ALL saw it, with our own eyes, in real time, on Jan 6.
But I also realize that the bottom 40% of the US only follow faux news, newsmax, and worse; own 80-90% of all the firearms, and include at least 50% of our military (I’m assuming the same with our police forces, but I have no data on that), not to mention the vast majority of my party and (apparently) over half the SC.
If/when Civil War II breaks out, not sure how it will end.  I only have to be glad I’m old, and have no kids.   :|
