Doesn’t anyone else wonder how close we are to WW3?

I mean crazies over there believing what they do and over here we have our own crazies and some on both sides have nothing else to live for!

I’m getting quite near the end of my conveyor belt of life and with no offspring so what ever happens may be after I’m dust anyway…BUT surely there are eggers here with opinions other than the best temperatures for ribs and pork butts!

Nope.  I do wonder when the next nuke will fly though.

I don't think we're any closer now than we were back in the height of the First Cold War.

The Doomsday Clock folks tho moved the clock last year to 90 seconds to midnight which is the closest to global catastrophe it has ever been. It used to be that the clock just represented closeness to nuclear armageddon but now it includes threats from climate change and some other things.

I'm not worried about nukes but climate refugees could become a huge destabilizer in the next couple of decades. Or not; who knows.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In either case, as I too only have a few more years remaining on Earth these will likely be problems for the young folks - they don't keep me awake at night.

  • I think real test will come when Western countries begin experiencing food and water scarcity in the midst of sudden environmental changes. If you can’t meet your basic needs, it becomes inevitable. I think we will experience internal strife between classes (think French Revolution) and armed international conflict.

With what I anticipate we will see in the coming years, I often question whether it was ethical to bring children into this world.

On that happy note…. Carry on.

@RRP give the OT thread a look and the below topic to keep abreast of things that don't keep me up at night.

“Only the bones of the dead have seen the end of war.”

    Julius Caesar

It is inevitable, as long as there is economical class struggle and fanaticism cult worship of different faiths, the global strife of war will never end.

Add to that, domestically, the well regulated militia we have, and the senseless violence which evolves, it difficult to think we are not already at war, internally.
