60 Minutes used to be my favorite “won’t miss a program show” for years until it got so steeped in CBS political slant. But tonight I got so interested in the long pieces about wine history and the major effort saving the ancient “roots”.

I watched the segment on Sealand.  Very cool.
  • The segment on the Ukraine families climbing was powerful.

I can hear the stopwatch ticking sound in my soul as my Grandmother watched it every week when I was a kid.

There were 4 shows I never missed.
    This Old House on Thursday.
Woodwright Shop and Saturday Night Live on Saturday.
    60 Minutes on Sunday.

Even before Caller ID I would never answer the phone during those shows! That was MY TIME!

I can also hear Andy Rooney’s voice, like an old man returning soup at a deli.

John, I agree! Another thing about Andy that many did not know was that he (like many of us) was a quiet wood worker who loved what he did make!

I bought a Brooks Brothers suit on Park Avenue about 20 years ago.  The salesman took me back to a dressing room where I largely undressed so the tailor could take measurements.  I wasn't sure that this was how it was supposed to go but when I stepped out of the dressing room, there was Mike Wallace in the same state of undress getting measured.  Apparently, he was a regular as he knew the tailor.

For the record, there was no cupping.

For years I purchased my suits semi-tailor made...I guess "cupping" was a term where you are...but here mine was simply being asked "do you dress right or left?" and the first time I was asked that I'm sure my answer was hilarious since I couldn't understand the guy anyway!!! =)=)=)

A voice I will never forget is Paul Harvey.  My uncle used to listen to him on the radio all the time.
