Truth…Myth or Legendary?
Overheard a conversation today and the guy was bragging about how many 40 lb briskets his buddy could cook on his smoker. I’ve seen some briskets living in Texas that I thought were pretty big. But have yet to see a 40 lb brisket. I asked if they were Bison? He said no, 40 lb briskets are easy to find.
What do you brisket experts say?

Darian, my bet is the guy had no clue what he was talking about and was the type of braggart who would challenge you to fist fight rather than to back down,

I received from my sister (who had no clue) a 24.9 lb brisket (pics were posted of the label) from SRF last year. That's the largest I have seen. Not saying it doesn't exist but...Trimmed out to around 19 lbs and cooked up just fine. I asked her to never go that size again-she listened as I have not gotten any gift from her since.
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint. -
Actually that’s really funny because I’m in Minnesota right now. Ha HaBotch said:l

About 10 years ago I bought one just under 24 pounds. I didn’t want or need one of this size but the others in the cooler just looked terrible. I had to cut about 6” off the flat end just to fit my XL. I’m sure these bigger briskets are great in an offset or large cabinet smoker. You're still 1 up on me with great sister gifts. I'm with you Darian. I have many friends that have working ranches and typically process 1-2 heads per year and I've never seen a 40pounder. Guess anything's possible but I've just never seen one in the wild (or on shelves, or refrigerated sections, etc).LBGE, 28” BS, Weber Kettle, HCI 7.8 SE Texas

I’ve seen one that was like 35 but had the bones still attached and was weird in a bunch of ways. It was from a local cow farm and the butcher didn’t seem to know how to cut it normalXL, Small, Mini & Mini Max Green Egg, Shirley Fab Trailer, 6 gal and 2.5 gal Cajun Fryers, BlueStar 60" Range, 48" Lonestar Grillz Santa Maria, Alto Shaam 1200s, Gozney Dome, Gateway 55g Drum
