Bourbon slushee - fall edition

Anyone have a good recipe for making a fall version of the classic egghead forum bourbon slushee? I’m thinking of using apple cider or apple juice concentrate instead of the orange juice concentrate and possibly the lemonade concentrate too.

  • I’ve never actually thought about doing a fall version of these, but I think apple cider plus a pinch of cinnamon could be pretty epic.  Almost like a cold slushee take on the hot toddy.

The frozen juice concentrate in the recipe is key to keeping it slushy, so keep that in mind. Apple cider may decrease the solute content enough that it freezes solid.

i like the idea but i think cider that goes hard, real apples, cinnamon, bourbon and ice in a blender would be better. put the sugar and cinnamon on the rim of the glass, ive seen that before

I think I might try apple juice concentrate. Maybe two cans of that subbed for the lemonade and orange juice.

this is more better in the fall, sub out real apple cider from the orchard for the water. the orchard here uses one of those huge 100 or so cup coffee makers to serve hot cider from, one of my favorite childhood memories was the hot cider.

We have tried the apple cider version, and it was good. My Beautiful Wife still maintains her preference for the original, so I use "yes dear" to endeavor towards matrimonial bliss, or as close to bliss as one may achieve in such unions.

    Party on.
