Naturally I flipped my card at the greeter to get in…

BUT after shopping then as we entered the vast area with the self checkout stations I heard someone say something like “Let me see your card”. I just thought it was said to someone with a problem card. But then the voice was louder in my ear up close! A gal never touched me, but she sure acted like a police lady ready to call for back up if I moved 5 feet further!!! I had not even been able to get up to the checkout stations! Besides NOBODY gets out of there without a cash register receipt!

Of course I handed her my card which she studied and verified that OLD picture was probably me after all.

WTH is that all about?

Even SAMS where we also have been members for years isn’t getting like this!

I've heard many people complain about this Gestapo like intrusion.  Apparently they are policing non members using members cards at self check out.  Personally I prefer Sams Scan and Go.  I never stand in a line. Just scan my items as they go in my cart and check out.  The door attendant verifies the order but it's very quick.  A fine citizen in front of me tried stealing a large pack of toilet paper though, and the girl casually removed it and tossed onto a large pile of goods.  I know the fine citizen intended to steal it as no apology was offered or attempt to purchase said tp.  Sad that's it's so common to try to steal that they don't bat an eye at catching these fine citizens.

The OP and the first response above, kinda validate each other.
    This isn't a very good nation/society anymore.   :|

Stealing toilet paper is the lowest of the low. Back in the old frontier days you could just pick up a random beaver and use that. These days though, beavers are rare and because they are so rare, the people that actually catch one don't really know which way to wipe with the said beaver. One direction and the beaver is happy and the other one, and you have chiclets in that little place where your bum cheeks just start to form.

Just like Netflix cracking down on some members sharing their password with their one hundred closest friends, Costco too has finally wised up.

I've never been a Netflix member so this COSTCO abuse issue obviously means I'm an extremely naive 79 year old fart!

Ron, my uncle, who was a priest in the 40's and 50's in Fall River, farted in a big jug for a year. At one family gathering he brought it out and made my Memere smell it. There were noises coming out of her I cannot even describe and things cane of herfat pie face  that I'm pretty sure passed through her ass first. After that I stopped French kissing her, I mean there are limits.

Thanks, Paul...I had to GOOGLE Menere since my childhood upbringing in Missouri never exposed me that term! Grammy was enough for her to know I was calling her!

Guess YOU are teaching me new words even though I may never use them again - which I suppose is better than learning new swear words this late in my lifetime!!!

French Canadian origin I believe, both grand parents straight from Canada, out by Quebec province if I remember correctly. My Memere on my mom's side was the happiest person I ever met, larger than a taco truck and wore moo moos from Omar the tent maker. Still if you were nestled in her nap you never smelt anything but perfume. Her underpants must have been made of flowers, there's no other explanation

Abuse, lmao.  It's a paid membership club and they don't know you.

The Sam's club TP story mentioned above sounds about right. I dropped that membership when the kids grew up and I didn't need to buy so much in bulk.
    Love you bro!

Ron you couldn't look suspicious if you were found collecting Brittany Spears boob sweat with one of those ridiculously small sugar spoons that McDonalds had to discontinue in the 80's because people were using them to snort cocaine. I think it's your droopy jowls.

Tucker was never on fox live.  Fox live will show a July 4th parade in ga live for an hour and will only show the fire trucks moving along

Recalled this thread today as I begrudgingly visited Costco.  It is located only around 1/4 mile from a place where I volunteer on Thursday PM.  The parking lot is dang near a demolition derby every time (last time visiting for me was around 3 months ago).  SWMBO swears by the place, so I defer to her unless I am looking for meat deals.
Can barely drive a cart around the slow walkers and gawkers and we are talking 3 PM on the clock.  Helps to blend in by being old...
Yep-my picture was clearly not recognizable so I produced the confirmation picture ID, checked out (two items) and then stopped to update the card on my way out.
The knock-on impact of implementing new check out options.

LOL - back when all the sample tasting stations had to be stopped during the Covid scare I missed them…BUT it sure sped up our COSTCO shopping other than for TBA (TiresBatteries&Accessories)

But since the return then the people who just stop their carts in the middle of the aisles - sometimes I swear even sideways in the aisle to feed their whole family and then ask questions really bugs me. When I see potential roadblocks ahead I avoid those stations even if they are handing our free bars of gold!  =)

But I find the same thing sometimes in grocery stores. BTW in narrow aisles I never hesitate using my cart to push theirs out of the way. I give those idiots my best painful smile!  B)

Time to buy another fridge/freezer and this beyond anything reasonable to support Q habits!  =)

Lump storage is also a struggle. I have you to blame for that. 🙃

I'lm not sure what the RRP treatment  is, but I'd rather have some kind of bum treatment. Not because I need it, but hey, if they're giving stuff away I might as well get something that I don't even want to touch myself ..treated. I don't know what treats they even mean in this case, hoping it's an upside down ice cream cone with sprinkles, the ice cream because I have this burning sensation sometimes, and the sprinkles because nobody ever celebrates bum treatments with enough colors these days.

Costco is doing the right thing. It's just a shame that there are so many scumbags that try to game/cheat systems that Costco needs to even do this.

So ignore the whiners. They knew what the rules are when they signed on for Costco membership. They're the same folks that buy a house in an HOA controlled neighborhood and then whine about the HOA rules.

Not sure you meant me as I have been both a COSTCO and SAMs PAYING member for MANY years!

But what really surprised me was that link saying that COSTCO’s profit ONLY comes from the membership fees! (cough cough cough gagging on that BS) So they are selling everything and paying staff and cost of facilities and EVERYTHING ELSE at breakeven? COME ON!!!

People think Costco is in the business of selling products, this is secondary. Costco is in the business of selling memberships that are 100% profit for the privilege of walking in the door. I’m a stock holder and a customer, they’re just preventing theft.

Not referring to you, that was me ending my grumpy old man rant.

Costco does not make ALL of its profits from the price of memberships. They make MOST of their profits from the price of memberships. That's been pretty well known for decades.
