Christmas request…. Any suggestions? I use wet stones, but apparently my son in law is looking for something different.🙄

Buried back down in @loco_engr recommendation length at Amazon is a seemingly more expensive sharpener from Chef’s Choice for $47. I have owned one for nearly 20 years based on the recommendation at that time in Cook’s Illlustrated and I have kept my many knives QUITE sharp and even have the cut finger scars as proof!

Don’t know how much you are looking to spend. For a fixed jig style sharpener, the wicked edge is a good setup. No flipping of the blade required and you can easily match strokes per side: https://wickededgeusa.com/. There are cheaper import dealios that flip the blade back and forth. The included stones usually are where most of the cost cutting is. I personally don’t like finishing an edge on a powered belt. If it needs serious reprofiling or damage repair I’ll do that on the belt grinder. I personally prefer to finish on hand stones like yourself. I like Arkansas for field knifes and I have a Belgian blue for kitchen knives though.

I have one of everything and the Tormek is the best at putting new angles and grinding out nicks. But a PITA to use.

I have the KO Work Sharp, and Tormek T4, but I mostly find myself using my Spyderco Triangle Sharpmaker.MMBGE / Large BGE / XL BGE (Craigslist Find) / SF30x80 cabinet trailer - "Ol' Mortimer" / Outdoor kitchen in progress.

I didn't realize Tormek also makes a "T-2" kitchen knife sharpener, between $600-$700.

I have and like the chefs choice. It is easy and reasonably quick. I touch up my knives about once a monthI XL and 1 Weber Kettle And 1 Weber Q220 Outside Alvin, TX-- South of Houston

I have an older (15year?) version but I’m guessing it doesn’t do the job it once did
