Once a grifter...Just continuing to play to CHEETO's base so that CHEETO can influence the '26 midterms and '28 election cycle.  The fact that he even sprouts this along with buying Greenland gives you an idea of how low we have sunk as a nation.
I am willing to bet that over half of CHEETO's most ardent supporters and CHEETO himself couldn't point out Greenland and the Gulf of Mexico on any map-even one CHEETO rigs himself.  F' me.

Trump and the flag-a bit of Trump and the flag railing with precedent in the past!

    Laurie Roberts

    The Arizona Republic

    USA TODAY NETWORK

Incoming President Donald Trump railed recently about the outrage that is apparently sweeping through the nation. The American flag, it seems, will be flying at half-staff when he is inaugurated on Jan. 20.

'Look at what they’ve done to our once GREAT America over the past four years – It’s a total mess!' Trump ranted Jan. 3 on social media.

'In any event, because of the death of President Jimmy Carter, the Flag may, for the first time ever during an Inauguration of a future President, be at half mast. Nobody wants to see this, and no American can be happy about it. Let’s see how it plays out.'

    Let’s do.

Trump had a fit over half-staff flags honoring Sen. McCain

You can tell a lot about person by the way they handle symbolic gestures, those small but significant actions that signal honor and respect.

Take Trump’s handling of the flag when U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., passed away.

According to federal rules, the flag must be flown at half-staff on all federal buildings, grounds and naval vessels in Washington, D.C., on the day of and the day after a senator dies.

Other presidents, however, have honored other senators who have died in office by keeping the flag at half-staff until their burials.

McCain died on a Saturday evening in 2018, and just after midnight into early Monday, the flag on the White House was hoisted back to full staff.

This, as flags at the Capitol and all over Washington, D.C., remained at half-staff in tribute to McCain.

It took no less than a national outcry, a request for military intervention and a plea by the American Legion to get then-President Trump to relent on his dramatic show of disrespect.

By mid-afternoon that Monday, the flag was returned to half-staff, where it remained through the day of McCain’s interment.

It was petty and political, and the sort of signature move we came to expect of Trump 45.

Now, the flag is once again at half-staff, in tribute to former President Jimmy Carter, and it seems Trump 47 hasn’t learned a thing.

President Joe Biden ordered all flags lowered for 30 days to honor Carter, as has been the custom since 1954.

The nation’s 39th president died on Dec. 29, which means the flags will be at half-staff on the day that Trump becomes the nation’s 47th president.

And he’s pitching an absolute fit.

Who doesn’t love our country? Who only thinks about himself?

'The Democrats are all ‘giddy’ about our magnificent American Flag potentially being at ‘half mast’ during my Inauguration,' Trump ranted on his Truth Social media platform. 'They think it’s so great, and are so happy about it because, in actuality, they don’t love our Country, they only think about themselves.'

Says the man who clearly is thinking only about himself.

You can tell a lot about person by the way they handle symbolic gestures, those small but significant actions that signal honor and respect.

The nerve of that Jimmy Carter, to die just before Donald Trump’s triumphant return to the Oval Office.

"In a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court last night denied Trump’s emergency bid to halt his criminal sentencing in the hush money case scheduled for today, explaining, in a one-page order, that the trial judge stated his intent not to impose jail time or a fine and that Trump could appeal his conviction “in the ordinary course.” Ben Protess, Kate Christobek, and Adam Liptak report for the New York Times.

An appeals court yesterday allowed the Justice Department to release Special Counsel Jack Smith’s report on Trump’s 2020 election interference efforts but left in place the district court injunction barring Attorney General Merrick Garland from releasing the report until at least Sunday, because the government had not yet appealed that injunction. The Justice Department subsequently appealed the injunction late last night. Jeremy Roebuck and Perry Stein report for the Washington Post; Kyle Cheney and Josh Gerstein report for POLITICO."

The official picture of the past Presidents attending Carter’s funeral, as released by the Carter family:

You’ll notice who doesn’t make the frame.  Trump was also the only person who didn’t have his hand over his heart at this moment.

"The violence on Jan. 6, 2021 “was foreseeable to Mr. Trump, … he caused it, … and … when it occurred, he made a conscious choice not to stop it and instead to leverage it,” Special Counsel Jack Smith said in his final reportreleased early today. According to the report, evidence held by the Justice Department would have been sufficient to convict Trump on election subversion charges had his 2024 victory not made it impossible for the prosecution to continue. Alan Feuer and Charlie Savage report for the New York Times.

Judge Aileen Cannon yesterday scheduled a court hearing on Attorney General Merrick Garland’s plan to share part of Smith’s report dealing with the classified documents investigation with the leaders of the the House and Senate Judiciary Committees later this week. Cannon also rejected Trump’s last-minute attempt to delay the DOJ’s release of the election subversion volume of the report. Tierney Sneed reports for CNN."

    Sad, sad commentary here-

Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) yesterday announced she would vote for Trump’s Defense Secretary pick Pete Hegseth, increasing the likelihood Hegseth will secure enough votes to be confirmed following yesterday’s hearing largely void of Republican dissent. Karoun Demirjian reports for the New York Times; Abigail Hauslohner, Liz Goodwin, and Dan Lamothe report for the Washington Post.
