Spicy Mustard

I discovered this gem while in northern Michigan last week. It is phenomenal!! Easily the best spicy mustard that I have ever tried. So far I’ve tried it on sandwiches and pretzels. It looks like it’s local to Michigan but they do ship it. I highly suggest you give it a try!!

Is it "horseradish hot", or "capsiasin hot"?
I love hot mustards; found a chipotle version that I was very fond of, so of course they quit making it.  I now make my own, 1 part chipotle pepper/adobo and 4 or 5 parts mustard.

  • @Botch horseradish hot…but also kind of sweet. I’m dying to try it on a brat

*sigh*. Just ordered a crate of asian hot mustard packets.  Now I have ordered some of this.  Just what I did not need.

Cheap Chinese restaurant hot mustard.  Nothing special, but grocery store stuff just isn't right.

Not really environmentaly sustainable, but I cannot find it in jars that my favorite wife likes.  It may be the extra concentrated BPA when you get it like this.

Not trying to be a d!ck, but have you considered making your own? You should easily  be able to tweak it to taste.

I am going to have to look into making my own as you all suggest.  The quality control on this batch is lacking.  Not nearly spicy enough, and not much mustard eirher.  Only 429 packets to use up.  It is brand a local place uses, but flavor isn't the same.  Very strange.

    Well, that's a bummer.

What's the MO with the packets from the local place? Do you usually eat it with food from there, or do you have the mustard with other things? if you usually eat with food from the local joint, then spices, MSG, etc. may be why it tastes different with something else?

Usually eat it on their food.  Their food is heavy on msg/salt.  That might fix it.  It definitely lacks that punch you can get with some msg.  I have some msg I might mix into a bunch of packets and see what that does.

Btw, thank you for the suggestion.  It is a good idea.
