A friend of mine that I worked with years ago is (at least I think he still is) the Exec Chef at Highcotton. If you are up for a fine dine night the guy is super talented
High Cotton burned in 2017 and has recently opened back up, they have a great reputation among locals, lots of people happy they’re back.

+1 on High Cotton. Swung in during a combat trip there to pick up a BMW M3 back in 2019. Used to be stationed in Charleston back in the early-mid 90s so it was nice to see the downtown had only gotten better.

Absolutely NOT/NOT. I went down inside a fast attack (688) once when I was Charleston and that was enough for me. Y'all are a different breed brother. I did two DD(G)s; a Spruance (989) as a PO3/2 and a Arleigh Burke (92) as an LCPO where I picked up my star. 24 total (89-13).

If you ever find yourself in the DMV, let me know. We can swap stories.

LOL, if you answered yes I was gonna ask if you were skeered - guess I don’t need to. 😎

Add the Peninsula Grill to the list, I can vouch for the Japanese A5 Wagyu, it’s a religious experience.

Well unfortunately due to some drama back home, we had to cut our time in Charleston short, and weren’t able to try any of the dining recommendations everyone listed. So we made it home yesterday with the 5th wheel with no real issues or problems.

Wife and I heading to Charleston nxt week for our 10 year anniversary. I cant wait to eat some great food!  This post was helpful as I am starting a list of restaurants to try (see below), but has anyone heard of "the ordinary" ?? My wife booked it for our actual anniversary.  Hoping it is the real deal, otherwise might try to book one from this list instead.

UPDATE: I asked my buddy who lived in Charleston for awhile to give me ideas, his list is below.  Guess I got tons of options, let me know if you have any "musts" from the list !!

    BGE SUGGESTIONS:
    Husk
    Pearlz oyster bar
    Lewis BBQ
    Paige’s okra grill
    S.N.O.B.
    Grill 225
    Hall’s Chop house

    FRIENDS SUGGESTIONS:
    FIG
    longboard (sullivan island)
    * POES (sullivan island)
    * HomeTeam (best location is on sullivan island)
    Stars Rooftop (on king)
    HUSK
    Lewis BBQ
    Ranco Lewis
    tattooed moose (hole in wall)
    Prohibition (great cocktails)
    Pearlz
    Amen St Raw Bar
    167 Raw
    Darling Oyster
    LEONS
Henrys on the Market (for live music)

I'm heading down for the weekend to Folly Beach. We may go into Charleston. It's almost impossible to go wrong with the food. Pick something you think you'd like and you should be good. If they don't put out a good product they don't last 6 months in that area.

Or they're a tourist trap. Looking at you Hyman's. It's not bad, but it doesn't live up to the hype for me.
  • Halls Chophouse is great restaurant

The only person I know that went to the ordinary said it was good but not great. If it was my anniversary I would book at circa 1886, special place and excellent food.
