Charleston Dining Recommendations

Headed to Charleston, SC in two weeks to pick up the RV and bring it north. Looking for dining recommendations as we will be spending 4 nights in Charleston. Already have a reservation for 82 Queen, a place we visited back in 1985.
Where else do you recommend?

Some places we like include Magnolias, Hymans Seafood, Sticky Fingers, and over at Shem Creek, several small seafood dives worth trying.

Paige’s ocra grill in mt pleasant and Lewis bbq are two of our favorites. We don’t miss Lewis for a brisket sandwich when we’re in town, even if it’s just a to go order. And if you’re lucky enough to be there on Thursday get the Rueben special. It’s fantastic.

Charleston is an excellent food town. We were down there a few weeks ago. There’s a hundred great restaurants in town. One of our favorite things to do is walk through the neighborhoods and pop into a few places for a drink and a few small plates or an app or 2.For BBQ- Go to Lewis BBQ. I don’t go out for bbq often because it’s usually underwhelming. Not the case here. Much better than Rodney Scott’s.The old standbys are still good- Husk and Poogan’s come to mind from this last trip. Some great seafood and raw bar joints. A little off the beaten path in a strip mall in East Bay is Ted’s Butcherblock. Old school European style shop- meats, cheeses, rillettes, pate, etc. Sandwiches and a decent beer/wine selection too. They actually cook Friday night dinners on a couple of eggs out back. Enjoy it!

Also agree with Lewis BBQ.
Most importantly, stop in at Ted's Butcherblock in the afternoon and see what he is cooking on his Big Green Egg. He has some great sandwiches and charcuterie with an eclectic beer collection.

I though Lewis BBQ was good not great, but you may get better results going earlier in the day than I did.
NOLA -
I had one off meal at Lewis which was still way better than anything we have around here. Every other time it’s been fantastic. It happens. That’s why I try to give a place more than one try before I give up. Unless it’s really bad.

Rodney Scott's BBQ is a good option. Rodney's bbq was famous out of small town Hemingway, SC and now he's got a restaurant there in Charleston. Same whole hog cooking he did in Hemingway. Scott's BBQ ranks up there in BBQ Royalty.

Wifey and I had a great time in Charleston a decade or so back. Had some good meals at places I can’t remember. One of the highlights was late night adult slushies at a cool spot.

Been a cook for a long time now, and Husk blew my mind! Wish I had more time there. Everything seemed delicious. Something about that place.

So far have reservations at Tempest, SNOB and 82 Queen. Unfortunately Husk is booked during our time there. Will likely call when a few days out to see if they have any cancellations. Going to hit up Lewis BBQ and Ted’s Butcherblock for lunch.MMBGE / Large BGE / XL BGE (Craigslist Find) / SF30x80 cabinet trailer - "Ol' Mortimer" / Outdoor kitchen in progress.

Wife and I were there in October, really enjoyed it. If you wanted an Italian meal, Indaco was fantastic. We sat by the kitchen and did the Chef's Tasting Menu. I think we went on a Sunday and they had half priced bottled wines as well. It was well priced, plenty of food, and a delicious meal.LBGE, 28" Blackstone

A friend of mine that I worked with years ago is (at least I think he still is) the Exec Chef at Highcotton. If you are up for a fine dine night the guy is super talented.
If by chance you do go there I'd love to hear your thoughts afterwards. I have kind of lost contact with my buddy...this is a good reminder to try to reach out to him.
