    On my first sub - USS Daniel Webster, the control room team detected a French Frigate in the middle of the night, and decided to run a mock approach, unbeknownst to the CO. Needless to say the French counter-detected us. First time I ever heard active pings through the water. 

    Let’s just say things didn’t go so well for the OOD after all was said and done.
