Pizzeria Bianco.  One of the best wood-fired pizza restaurants in the country, hands down.

I do not have any recommendations, but be aware Phoenix is super spread out and has islands of food throughout.  I would plan ahead, just like you are doing.

I usually hit up the random taco trucks and stands and Shake Shack.

Phoenix is probably the worst place in the country…I joke. Kinda. My history with that place is questionable.

Other than fast food, we ate at a place called Barrio Queen. It was really good. There are probably much better places though.

Also, have them lookup Raspados.  That is a generic term for a Mexican ice cream shop.  The real good ones also have great tacos with traditional meats too like cheek and sometimes chicken head/feet meat.

They also have some fun treats they make in a Tostada's bag, like the mexican version of a walking taco Midwesterners make in Fritos bags.

My youngest daughter and I watched a lot of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives back when she was younger and living at home.

We watched one on Phoenix the weekend before I had to travel there for work.

I went to Wild Thaiger after watching the episode (Globe Tasting, Season 22).  Thai fusion.  Really fun and good food!

Work used to send me to Phoenix several times a year, that was over 12 years ago, so these may not be accurate for today:
    - Honey Bears BBQ, nothing fancy, just really good que.
    - Rustler's Rooste, the food was only average and I recall the prices pushed the per diem limit.  Great view of the valley and neat if you're there during sunset.

Don't know about the Phoenix restaurants, but all the Tucson ones on the list are great, so I assume the Phoenix ones are too:

If they are on the NE side of town, Tapas Papas Frita is the best tapas I've ever had outside of Spain - and better than most in Spain.
