ever see this with bacon

2 days in the fridge and it started ballooning. would not see this as even possible

    Off Gassing for some reason, my guess is it got hot @ some point along the route and it has given up the goose....

    opened outside and hung in a tree for the squirrels, nothing kills the squirrels. my guess is someone put it in a carriage and then placed it on a shelf after deciding 8 bucks a pound is too much, then the new 14 year old stock boy found it and put it back with the bacon days later. but then again, gassing off cured bacon doesnt make sense to me

    If it's properly cured it should be fine.  Problem with mass-produced bacon is that it isn't always properly cured -- mostly, it's too wet.  I've ordered boutique bacon and it ships with no refrigeration.

    I guess not really off gassing as in products like carpet, furniture and such but
    the gasses released as a byproduct of the metabolism in bacteria like its fermenting

    just thinking back on all the opened packages of bacon i found and ate after the expiration date that would not have shown this and never got sick. still seems strange to me
