I was just there a month ago and it was open.

A great place to eat and have a great view of the city is Salty’s. https://www.saltys.com/seattle/

Vonn’s 1000 Spirts was a good place to stop for lunch. https://www.vons1000spirits.com/

If you want to get adventurous go out to Hama Hama Oyster farm. You wont regret it. https://hamahamaoysters.com/

The museum of flight was a really cool place to visit.

If looking for a nice easy hike check out the Rhododendron Garden. There several easy trails right around there.

  • I assume there aren’t any good bbq joints in Seattle?

There is a wide selection of drugs available. Bring your own needles for safety. 🙄

    Here are two I like.

If you go to BBQ Pete's get the Boss Hog or the chipotle pulled chicken.
  • I used to live up there, but if I were visiting I would choose https://dintaifungusa.com/ over BBQ. They literally have Asian grandmas behind a glass window hand making the dumplings.

Do this. Do not go to Seattle to eat BBQ. Get into some weird noodle shops, grab a great piece of salmon, have some dim sum. I have never found Seattle to be great foodie town but there are some great spots if you poke around a little. Bainbridge Island is super cool if the weather is decent. The waterfront bar at The Edgewater hotel is cool and the food is really good. Lot of history in that hotel and pics to prove it (Alice Cooper caught a mud shark from his balcony and put it in his bathtub). We always eat at Wild Ginger downtown. Upscale Chinese food. It’s good but you could find better in San Francisco or New York. It’s tradition for us so we like it.

  • But Portland has amazing BBQ. And drugs. Lots of drugs.

  • Starbucks  roastery  is worth a stop as well.

  • And those hills are real. Get your comfy shoes on and
start walking now if you aren't used to it. Dont be afraid to hop in a cab or uber even for a short ride if you are going up into town from the water’s edge. 4-5 blocks straight up hill will wear you out.

Another thing we thought was cool was the Chiluly museum. World famous blown glass artist with installations all over the world. He is from Seattle .and the exhibit is too notch.

    Have fun!

I would go Seattle, as it looks beautiful, but they don’t like my kind in PNW.

  • I don’t know what kind you are but i assure you rural Washington and Oregon are as about as far from Seattle and Portland as you can get. It’s almost a counterpoint to the liberalism of the cities. More guns and trucks than i ever see around here. And i live in Semi-rural Texas.  My ranch neighbor has 4 Trump Desantis 2024 flags on his fence and would be considered a liberal in rural Oregon lol.

Yup, and learn to set your parking brake, steer your front wheels into the curb when parking, and pay any parking ticket, even if its a rental car.
Advice from a friend of mine.

Oh, I know. My parents live in western Oregon and my sister in Spokane. I’ve spent a fair amount of time in both places. It was more of an off hand joke.

We went to Rockaway Beach in Oregon during spring break this year and drove back home down the coast. Portland is certainly an outlier to the rest of the state. Too bad, it looks like it could be such a nice place.

I like Portland but I couldn't live there. Good for a few days then back to reality. I dint think I would fare too well in Rural areas either. Those people need to find some balance lol. I could live out in Willamette Valley though.

Chihuly is definitely worth a visit.

Uwajimaya is a fun grocery store to go through as well.  Ping’s Dumpling House was fantastic.  Kerry Park is also worth a visit.  It was cloudy so we didn’t see it, but if it’s clear I’d also have Mt Rainier in this shot.

I took family and friends to DTF once. They were fighting over the leftovers. The ones that live local went back about once per week.
  • One of my fav burger joints is in Seattle, it’s called 8 oz burger. I used to go to Seattle every year for a sql server conference and love the city.
