Fred seemed to disappear from the forum sometime after the middle of last summer.  I hope he's OK.  Just wondering if anyone here has heard from him?

Blame for the water crisis in Flint had little to do with it being a "Democrat ran city".

Most of that crisis stems from the corruption and actions of Republican Governor Rick Snyder who was among those who were criminally charged this January for their involvement in the Flint water crisis.

I thought I had his cell number and looked for it a few months ago.  I wonder about him too.  We were potentially going to the same local eggfest a few years back.   I will look again.

I have to say this is pretty close to something you said when I sent out the beacon for Steve.

You’d made some reference to wishing he would post again, because he provides “balance” to the forum.  I think the joke I made was that he had maybe moved to a different country.  Moreover, someone had previously mentioned that he was just taking a break.   I don’t know, I guess I never felt like Steve might legit be in jeopardy, whereas this feels different to me.

So I don’t think it’s quite the same thing, but YMMV.

Unfortunately there are quite a few who have apparently gone permanently "submerged and undetected".  The forum is always better served with more participants.  I hope he is doing well and just taking a protracted pause, but that is not his style.

He does and I’d asked Tony about Fred about a month ago, since I talk to Tony almost every day.  I think he pinged him but never heard back, unfortunately.  I’ll ask.

Another I really miss is @smokingal. Her cooks were elevated to an extent beyond compare, IMO. From the photos to the documentation, the execution of the post was flawless. 

While it’s easy to assume the worst for any member having gone silent, statistically, I anticipate it’s likely most have simply refrained from ongoing participation. At least this is my sincere hope.

The thing with her is that even her bbq blog disappeared.  I can understand maybe not sticking around here, but the blog she had is a different story.  I fear the worst for her as well.

We have no way of "checking up" on someone who's been incommunicado, unless one person has their personal phone number, or knows their spouse/family.  On farcebook, I keep getting birthday notifications for a great singer/songwriter, annually, who's been gone for, what, 14 years now?  And there aren't a whole lot of 20-somethings on this particular forum, so there's an increased pallor over us.  
How to solve this?  I've thought about it over time, and haven't a clue.

Totally Off Topic, but years ago we had a lady neighbor from England. As we entered their yard for a 4th of July picnic party I stepped in a pile of a neighbors dog crap! As I tried to “scrape” it off as best as I could in the grass the English lady just laughed heartedly saying “in England stepping in doggie sh*t is a sign of good luck!”
