The recent spike in illegal immigration from African countries underscores the increase in migrants coming from around the globe to sneak across the southern border—including more than 10,000 from Asia and almost 900 from Europe last year.
In recent weeks, U.S. Customs and Border Protection apprehended more than 500 illegal immigrants from African countries that include Angola, Cameroon, and both the Republic of the Congo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Associated Press reported.
That’s more than twice the 211 total apprehensions during fiscal year 2018 of illegal border crossers from the continent.

Wow. I live about 25 miles from Hastings and was totally unaware of this story. Can't say I'm surprised, but truly remarkable what some people are capable of. Would love to see them justify this with their god.nolaegghead said:Stillwater, MN -

The House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol said it is preparing to hold Mark Meadows, who served as President Donald Trump’s chief of staff, in criminal contempt for not complying with the panel’s subpoena as it ramps up efforts to force Trump administration officials to cooperate with its inquiry.Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-Miss.), the committee chairman, said in a lettersent Tuesday evening to Meadows’s attorney, George Terwilliger III, that the panel’s patience has run out. Thompson dismissed Meadows’s argument that much of the information the committee sought was covered by executive privilege because it involved his duties as an aide to Trump at the White House.
Meadows previously provided the committee with some information, but he informed the bipartisan panel Tuesday that he would no longer appear before it on Wednesday. Meadows would be the third former Trump official the committee has voted to hold in criminal contempt of Congress.
In the letter, Thompson outlined some of the documents that Trump’s former chief of staff has already provided to the committee, including a Nov. 7, 2020, email “discussing the appointment of alternate slates of electors as part of a ‘direct and collateral attack’ after the election.” Also mentioned in the letter is a Jan. 5 email “regarding a 38-page PowerPoint briefing titled ‘Election Fraud, Foreign Interference & Options for 6 JAN’ that was to be provided ‘on the hill’ ” and a Jan. 5 “email about having the National Guard on standby.”
