My dad wanted something you could just turn on. Seemed like maybe a good compromise. It cooks just ok but we've used it 6 times and ignitor is burnt out. The temp control is pretty poor for a pellet grill too.

Sorry to hear that.  I do know people who have regular pellet smokers, like the Traegers, and they actually like them a lot.  Some limits on what you can do, but the set it and forget it aspect and overall ease of use is definitely the appeal.

Oh that's the other thing, the hopper is tiny I bet you'd be refilling before a brisket was done although in fairness I haven't tried yet. I have had to refil in one night's cooking though.
