This one is overdue I think.

After discussing this with some of the Friday night Zoom session cognoscenti, it has been decided that going forward the Friday Night Zoom sessions will be known as Friday Nights at Frank's Speakeasy.
Many of you know the omnipresent @lousubcap around these parts, and may have even thought his name is Lou. Most of you have probably also gathered that he's one of the main drivers behind the Zoom sessions on Friday nights. Frank likes to refer to me as the "chairman" of those things because I set up the calls on Zoom, but the truth is... they're Frank's show. He minds the bar and makes sure to keep the riffraff in check. Now he's going to put up a big show about how he doesn't deserve to have these named after him or whatever but that's all going to fall on deaf ears because it's been decided. You'll just have to take this one on the chin, Frank.
For those of you who are new here, drop in some Friday night to meet some of the forum regulars and introduce yourself. The jokes alone are worth the price of admission. The Zoom link is:
https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89600782373
There is a password that you'll need but it can be obtained via PM to just about anyone here. It has been passed around so many times at this point that it's probably had covid at least twice. But it survives because it's as strong as bourbon.
If you don't know the history of the Speakeasy you should do yourself a favor and read a little about them. These came to prominence during prohibition times and became places for friends to gather in secret and share an adult beverage or two. Variations on these are still around today in the form of "hidden" bars that only a few people know about.

If you still don't get why we'd call these sessions a Speakeasy well then I can probably guess your forum handle as one of three.
Doors open around 9pm Eastern on Friday nights and the bar is open until it's not. Hope to see you there.

A fitting tribute to a living legend. Frank is one of the pillars of this forum. If you review his posts, you will see that they always consist of a kind word and, when necessary and called for, a gentle nudge in the right direction - usually by way of example. In short, Frank is a man to look up to and this forum is the better for his participation.
(Edit: If you’ve been on the receiving end of his wrath, you’ve probably deserved it. 😉) -

Frank is one of the finest miscreants on this forum. Slightly more honorable than just about any of the worst of us. Besides, he's only crashed a few multi-billion dollar subs in his day. You have to crack a few eggs to make an omelet, he says in his usual enigmatic manor. Of course, he never hints on what the hell the omelet is. Must be over our pay grade. I guess the gas on a sub is on the floor because we all know he has a lead foot. Also I hear there's a bounty out for him in one of those states with no speed limit....for speeding. If anyone could pull that off, it's Frank.

Large BGE & Mini Max for the wok. A few old camp Dutch ovens and a wood fired oven. LSG 24” cabinet offset smoker. There are a few paella pans and a Patagonia cross in the barn. A curing chamber for bacterial transformation of meats...
"Bourbon slushies. Sure you can cook on the BGE without them, but why would you?"

As the chairman noted, I have not done anything to merit this and am humbled by this gesture. I will make quite sure the place is extra clean and organized for tonight's gathering. Bar is always stocked with whatever your beverage of choice.
You really should drop in at least once so you can draw your own conclusions. You will definitely learn something as well.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -
Awesome tribute to a great guy. I hope to make it tonight, provided the grandkids cooperate. On a side note Frank, I see that you know Joe Gioello, he and I served together on the Big D, great guy.
For the bourbon enthusiasts, check out the documentary “Neat,” available on Amazon, Hulu, etc for like $3 or so. Part of the movie profiles a couple in Tennessee who converted their basement in to a Speakeasy - dude has over 300 unique different bottles of Whiskey/Bourbon.
