As commented on by @Legume, one wonders the steak knife driver  given all the @nolaegghead banquets and support for the community, this buy has to be an outlier.
Edit: to remove the once again white space.

Pretty sure the driver was: he sees, he likes, he buys.  He has an entire quonset hut to store his spoils.

In @nolaegghead's defense he said SWMBO did the buy.  But your "he sees. he likes, he buys" and he has a shop rings true.
Edit: another go round dealing with the while space.

After asking for info from @Acn who graciously answered my query, I just did my bit to boost the economy (no I didn't buy gasoline...)"

Clearly a " want not need."  This will outlive me and that's the best part!

SWMBO bought some new steak knives.  I know nothing about them except they were probably on sale and they came sharp AF.
A couple years ago I saw a EweTube on cheep chinese chef's knives, and I bought one for the single purpose of learning how to use a flat stone, rather than my Trizor grinder, for sharpening (saving my longtime Henckel's until I knew what I was doing).
It cost $70 and arrived in a very similar box, with a plastic tip guard just like yours, which made me think of it.  That knife was scary-sharp, I could cut a tomato in half, set it cut-side-down, and shave off paper-thin slices from the top, thru the skin, without even holding the tomato, it was that sharp.  The octagonal handle, bigger knife width, balance, and its sharpness kinda scared me off from even using it (****!) and so I've yet to learn how to use flat stones to sharpen a kitchen knife.  Maybe someday.

Found a really nice cnc cut aluminum bench dog kit for $75.  Seems like a lot but if it were Festool it would be $300.  20mm standard dog diameter.  Drill guide is very impressive for $35.  Very little play in the linear bushings and bearings.

Other than the rods corroding, it's been pretty good.

Get a can of this stuff and wipe down the rods occasionally and they will never corrode. Great for any metal surface.

Tomorrow, late morning, is the next Apple Reveal Thingie (not sure of the exact Event title).
My desktop computer (which I use for photo editing) is now 9 years old, no longer software-update-supported, doesn't do Sidecar, spins the Bright Beloved Beachball on occasion; it's time to take Her out behind the barn...

Too many Intranetz rumors, and I've tried to avoid reading them.  16" Macbook Air?  (I'll be pissed!)  28" iMac Pro?  (interested, we'll see the pricing...)  Downgraded (affordable) versions of the $6,000 Apple Cinema display?  (interested, we'll see the pricing, and the...):  Apple Mini Studio, with the biggest/baddest-ever M1-Armageddon/I-boinked-your-mom chip?  (again, we'll see the pricing, and do I really need that for photo editing?  I'm not a video editor nor gamer (which Mac isn't right for, anyway (I don't know why))); a 2020 M-1 Mac Mini would probably be fine for photo editing, but Botch likes buying the newest/greatest (computers, cars, cameras, TVs, but not phones) and then using them until I can't anymore ("we're discontinuing 2G", or "we don't do printer drivers for dot-matrix anymore", or "eff your land-line", or "No you don't get an oil dipstick anymore!")  ****.

I'm curious to see what tomorrow brings.  And I'm sure my credit card will start smoking in my wallet, whatever happens.  Whee.

The new Mac Pro is rumored to be out this year.  I don’t know if that schedule is pushed out from the war and pandemic complications.  It will have apple silicone stacked to 10…20….? cores.  It may be a collectible as a first.

I hope they have an improved and upgraded pro monitor stand.

Best monitor stand you can buy for only $999.  If you don't want it, you're not paying for it through the monitor purchase.  It will take a VESA standard mount too.  It's like buying the $1300 iphone and not getting the $30 charger.

I was hoping for upgraded Mac Pro casters; the $700 ones are kinda chintzy...

Just ordered some Smokeware products for shipping to my current vacation address, as it’s way cheaper buying here than from home.

Wondering what else I should be buying here while in the U.S….

Am already busting plenty of that on this trip. As painful as prices are currently, they’re no worse than what we’re used to paying North of the border. 🙃

    1)  No 16" Macbook Air, glad I bought the 16" Macbook Pro last year.
    2)  No 28" iMac Pro, which means...
    3)  28" Apple Studio display, $1,600; that's what I was going to pay for BenQ's 28" photo display, but the Apple has great speakers built-in, the BenQ has none, so cheaper to go Apple (surprisingly).  Think my mind's made up on that one.  Which leaves:
    4)  Brand-new Mac Mini Studio, @ $2,000.  More power than I need, but the straight m1 Mac Mini is already $1,200, and already 2 years old, and...

That's not a base model mini if it's $1200.  I bought an M1 mini for SWMBO on sale for, it was either $599 or 699.
