Meat on a sword...

Morning All:

It was time for some more picanha for last night's dinner...to make it a little easier I used two swords as this was a large piece of picanha...rub was a light sprinkling of Dizzy Pig Raising the Steaks then a heavy dose of Kosher salt...just onto the Egg...

Just about ready to take off the Egg...if you look close you will see that the small piece on the end of the right sword is missing already (cook's treat as it got done quickly)...

Added a salad, some buttered peas & a baked potato to make a very fine meal...my plate...

Eating good in this neighborhood!

Have a GREAT day!

That looks great.  Does anybody know where I could get some swords that would fit across a 29" XXL without burning the handle (of the swords)?

    Morning @Foghorn

Thanks...I'm not sure about swords that long, but I got these off Amazon...you might try searching for Brazilian meat swords to see if there are any that are the size you need.

    Have a GREAT day!

If you cannot find anything long enough on line,  buy some flat stock steel.  Maybe 1/8 or 3/16 x 1”.  Use a grinder for the point and put pot handle cover on the back end.

Far be it from me to help people spend forum dollars on overpriced gadgets but it would seem this would fit nicely atop a 29" grid

Nice try @The Cen-Tex Smoker but nope.  It's maxed out on a 22" Weber kettle.

it would fit on the grid. You don't have to have it sitting on the edges. You can even do it over a campfire. It's very versatile.

  • and, if it's maxed out on a 22, it would seem you could fit 2 of them with just the right amount of overlap on your XXL. Problem solved.

Several years ago, Central Market had an event week featuring Brazil. I bought a set of skewers, among other things.

Brand is Tramontina Churrasco. Blade is 25.5” long. Very beefy. It’s more weapon than cooking accessory. I think Cen-Tex also bought some.

Another option would be to look for tandoor skewers. I bought 48” long ones from nishienterprises.com when I built my tandoor.

@buzzvol ‘s suggestion is probably the cheapest, and most functional, one. I made 24” long skewers that way, and they are great. The skewers I’ve seen on Amazon are usually pretty thin and bendy.

(OP - apologies for the hijack. I figured it may help someone trying to replicate your cook).
