I believe its a little cheaper if you order direct from Rockwood.CigarCityEgger said:My local Walmart didn’t have any for the first time. Gonna check out HD this week. Amazon has rock wood for $34.99 a 20lb bag. Does that seem about what it goes for?
Edit. Amazon is cheaper -
I think it is $24.99 at ace when available. Check that amazon price against the rockwood website, he sells and ships direct. @CigarCityEgger

That’s a fair price if prime. I think I pay $28 to pick it up locally.CigarCityEgger said:My local Walmart didn’t have any for the first time. Gonna check out HD this week. Amazon has rock wood for $34.99 a 20lb bag. Does that seem about what it goes for?Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX -

Went there and picked up three bags, and left the one that sounded like a rain stick when you turned it over and the one that was damaged and taped up. I'm now back up to 6 bags, so I feel more comfortable now. Thanks for the heads up.
I watched Brickseek for a few days and saw the stock dropping in the local WalMarts. Picked up a couple more bags of RO today. Likewise - thanks for the heads up.

My local Ace here in E. TN has been out of Rockwood for months. They say they just don't get it. When I got low on my last bag, I ordered 3 bags from Ace online. Store said it was back ordered and they didn't know when they would get it. Two days later I got a text it was in. Go figure.

At $9.99 for 25 pounds I couldn't resist. I bought 2 bags. I've used the first bag. It's fine. It takes a little longer to burn off VOCs than some better stuff, but after that happens it doesn't seem to be any different than HEB's Central Market Mesquite lump. I've cooked some salmon and shrimp and a few other things on it and the final product has gotten rave reviews so it seems it does not impart any bad taste on the food.xfire_ATX said:Saw this on the shelf at the local HEB yesterday- did not pickup.
I'll try to assess the second bag a little more closely to see if I still think this after I get more data...XXL BGE, Karebecue, Klose BYC, Chargiller Akorn Kamado, Weber Smokey Mountain, Grand Turbo gasser, Weber Smoky Joe, and the wheelbarrow that my grandfather used to cook steaks from his cattle

Isn't that charcoal, and not lump? Did you have an excess of ash in your bowl at the end of the cooks?

It's lump. No excess ash.

For the first time, I'm unable to find an ACE in the Twin Cities, MN with any information about eventual deliver to the store. I have three bags of RW left, and a smaller bag of RO. Opening the RW tomorrow and starting to get nervous. Maybe winter will come early and force me into hibernation while the local stores figure out how to get their supply to the great white North!stlcharcoal said:
Business as usual here......but we can't control, nor really know where the distributors go with it. But I do know there's a truckload leaving for Ace in GA tomorrow though. Hopefully you local store will get some of it.GATraveller said:Anyone ever get an answer why Rockwood is nonexistent?LG BGE

Let me know what you think. I'm about the farthest thing from a discriminating lump user as there is on this forum so you may reach a very different conclusion.xfire_ATX said:Foghorn said:
