I have never been a racing fan of any kind. My nephew said he's really into F1 and recommended I watch the Netflix series Drive to Survive. I have to say...I'm on season 2 and think it's quite fun to watch! I'm trying to finish the series before watching any new races. Anyway - just throwing it out there. Who's a fan here? How long have you been following the sport? Favorite team/driver?

I'm only a very casual fan, but I did attend the F1 race in Austin a few years ago as a VIP (finish line suite, got to walk pit row), and it was a really cool experience.

Loved watching Niki Lauda back in the day..........never missed a race, that and CART ( Championship Auto Racing Teams ) AFter they disbanded ( CART ) in 2003 I stopped following .........But a very enjoyable sport , the race is won in the Pits and race management

I was a huge fan until the day Ayrton Senna died (after another driver died in practice the same weekend). Not trying to be a downer on this thread - but that sucked the enjoyment out of it completely for me. But I certainly understand the appeal. It’s an incredible sport.

I have followed F1 since the 70s, used to never miss a race, but unfortunately it's got boring. Amazing technology and talent, but you can see that in qualifying. The technical arms race and rules format means money talks and the high dependence on aero makes overtaking is difficult. Caught the end of the British GP on Sunday, exciting because of the tyre failures but not because of the racing.

I used to follow it, sort of. Then Jackie Stewart retired. Saw him a couple of times at the Watkins Glen USGP.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Big fan here as well. I believe without the dominance of big red the sport becomes a little boring, I am a Ferrari fan so a bit one-sided. I agree with what  @Eoin said and believe the technology gets in the way of the sport especially with the differences between the works teams and the customer teams.

Hopefully the new package, in 2 years, will address the downforce issue resulting in the lack of passing as well as the funds it takes to be slightly competitive. The governing body should bring the teams closer in technology and funding or else the factory teams (Mercedes and Ferarri) will continue to run away whit it. Oh...we should go back to the bigger V12/10 engines, they sounded stupid!

Those are just my BS thoughts for the group.

The Netflix series is pretty good.  I've watched both seasons so far and enjoyed it.

If you're into this sort of thing, check out the movie Rush if you haven't already.  Arguably one of the better films on the topic.
