    No worries, when you move there you can show all your new Kiwi friends how to do it right proper!

    I looked into immigrating to New Zealand in the early 2000s.  It was very hard and rules written to enable them to deny anyone.

    Basically you needed to be Caucasian and wealthy (at the time you needed $500,000 to "invest" in their economy, or have one of the critical skills on a list they maintain.  If it was a skills entry, it was not guaranteed to be permanent.  Regardless of how you come in, you also needed a sponsor.

    I have family there and they say it is like living in 1950s America.

    I know a couple of people moved there recently, getting jobs before moving. There are shortage skills that will get you in, the people I know are engineers, jobs offered and moved out there on the basis of Skype interviews.

    She was on Stephen Colberts show a few months ago. He flew down to visit her for a couple days and she picked him up at the airport, in her own car.
    She seems like a kind, compassionate, modest, and rational person. And a pretty cool cucumber too - that video of a few days ago where she was in a studio filming a tv interview while a mild earthquake started happening showed her just shrugging it off - "no lights are falling down on me and the building seems sturdy so let's just continue" is the opposite of how Bunker Boy would likely have responded.

    I guess she wouldn't have the balls to personally take on an active shooter though, amirite? #fearlessleader

    A previous boss of mine is from England but as a boy they emigrated to En Zed.  He was amazed as an adult when he Emigrated to Dallas and saw what BBQ was.

    As a young man they would go to the beach, dive under and catch whatever they could and have a BBQ on the beach.  That meant building a small fire in a rock ring, grabbing the steel plate they had with them and using it as a cooktop.

    He now has a Kamado and his favorite cook is a pork butt.

    *Edit
    My British Neighbor had some of his family get to En Zed via this

    Just Vote- What if you could choose "none of the above" on an election ballot? Millions of Americans do just that, in effect, by not voting.  The result in 2016: "Nobody" won more counties, more states, and more electoral votes than either candidate for president.

    You just have to remember to stir the "pizza peel" counterclockwise.

    The problem in NZ is that the coals fall out of egg, because they are upside down.  That's why they are all skinny, it's hard to eat there.

    People that have the ability to affect change and vote have a responsibility to do so.  Stay and vote.

  • Silicon Valley robber barons been building doomsday bunkers there for years.  Good enough for them should be good enough for any Egger.  Check the Hobbit Forum for the lowdown on local bbq offerings.  They are true foodies.

    This will give you a good steer about our Kiwi friends;

    The few people I have known and worked with from there have all been really nice, well centred and genuine people.    Shared heritage is a big part of the national character.
