Perhaps what I'm about to describe is commonplace elsewhere across the USA, but this was NEW to me.

Where I shop here in Peoria, IL where it is called "Central Illinois" I do all the shopping for the 2 of us in Kroger, Schnucks, SAMS and COSTCO. The mask enforcement is lax at best, but the 6 foot and "100 shoppers" is only enforced at SAMS and COSTCO.

BUT...today I went to our popular home improvement store called Menards and even though I entered with a mask I was surprised to see a HUGE sign saying you can NOT enter without wearing a mask and if you don't have one you can buy one for $1...but you CAN NOT enter without one!

This one MEANT IT!

Fast forward...the items I purchased were located outside in their vast stock yard. To get in passed what I call "Check point Charlie" you also had to have on a mask...and then after I got in that vast yard I encountered 3 18 wheel semi's with massive loads to be unloaded. Guess what - yup...all three of the drivers were standing outside their tractors (all 3 were PB sleepers) and had large masks on!

No curbside for Menards. Both Home Depot and Lowes offer it here locally.

The mask, catching up with how it's gonna be for quite a while.  My guess is a requirement until a readily available vaccine and we have an inoculated population.  Hopefully some time in early -mid 2021 and that would be a world record by several years.  FWIW-

I saw curbside pick up, but I bought 250 pounds of lime for my yard. At my age I was not going to try to load  those 5 50 pound bags. Even the 20 somrething young man drove his lift truck out with a pallet of 1,500 pounds or so and raised it close enough to skoot off the 5 bags into the back of my suv. Talk about a butt dragging from there...LOL

Lucky! I drive by Lowes and Home Depot to get to a Menards normally. I've been watching for curbside for ones here. I haven't seen anything on their website for curbside pickup. Good to know some are offering it now!

My wife was at NAS Oceana Commissary last Saturday for first time since this started. Met by same sign as as described by original poster. ID check as normal. She swung to right for fruit and produce. My wife noted a shopper who had her mask pulled down while examing some fruit. My wife looked away and then looked up and noticed 2 employee's escorting the offender out of the store. Wife noted multiple employees walking the Commissary aisles looking for offenders and multiple announcements over the intercom concerning the wearing of your face mask and the importance of mask integrity.
NAS was a BYOM facility they did not offer any for sale.

I guess Menards doesn't call it curbside pickup. So I wasn't pulling anything up online when typing "Menards and Curbside" this whole time. Apparently they call it something like "Pick It". Good to know. Thanks for the heads up!

*Edit: Menards doesn't have true curbside. You can order online and go and pick it up. It appears this was an option long before Covid. They charge you additional fees for this option. Most the items I had in my cart they didn't have or give me the option of picking up. I guess I'm sticking with Home Depot for a while longer....

Costco is going to require all people in their stores to wear masks starting May 4.

    Only chumps don't wear masks.

Too bad we have to be exposed to them.

We have not seen the must wear a mask to protect others, yet. It is coming. We have had pretty good community buy in to physical distancing, resulting in scaled down infection rates and deaths. Large East Asian population in the lower mainland and masks to avoid spreading whatever has been a long standing practice. Even without any mandatory direction, probably 75% of folks wear a cloth mask.

We have had that start here in NJ a month ago, they are limiting number of people in store at once, the Ace Hardware was allowing only 1 shopper at a time.

The Publix stores have implemented one-way aisles.  They are clearly marked with an "X" or arrow to show the direction.  I was amazed at how many ignored them.  One shopper, when it was pointed out to them they were going the wrong way, acted surprised, then continued on in the same direction. :o

The Home Depot in north Colorado Springs required masks and gloves last Monday.

    Also:

There was one entrance through the sliding doors and one separate exit.

    Garden center was exit only.

I don't know how many people were allowed in the store at one time, but it was "one out one in".

Homedepot here has been limiting customers for a couple weeks. Went to Lowe’s the other day and they weren’t doing anything it was like they hadn’t heard of the virus. Costco is mandatory masks the only store I have seen so far.

I was at Menards this morning. They have had the mask requirement for a while. They also allow a bandana or ANY fabric covering. They also do not enforce proper usage. I can't tell you how many people, including employees, wear the mask below the nose, only covering mouth.

Perhaps the enforcement issue is more about the local management. Our's has a further restriction that no one under age 16 is allowed in!
