Groceries you want but can't get

Did a grocery run today with a list that included pork butt and wings but there were none to be found.  What are you striking out on?

  • It seems everyone is a baker now. Can’t (easily) find flour or yeast. Soy sauce is a weird one. Wiped out at our stores. Dry/canned beans, rice. It’s a sh!t show but we have cobbled together everything we need/want.

I have enough meat for everyone on here so we are good there.

Haven’t found TP in a MONTH. Can’t get bread flour - how many folks have suddenly learned to make bread??????

Large BGE & Mini Max for the wok. A few old camp Dutch ovens and a wood fired oven. LSG 24” cabinet offset smoker. There are a few paella pans and a Patagonia cross in the barn. A curing chamber for bacterial transformation of meats...

My MIL asked us to get flour if they had it and no joy there either.  Also wanted some broccoli to roast as a side for Easter and there was none.

Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Cherry Garcia ice cream.  Of course haven't seen it in this area for 3-4 years.
Wings are a crap shoot but drum sticks are deep discounted at $0.29/lb in the local Kroger.
It takes a road trip to find habaneros now.  Two weeks ago they were in plentiful supply at a few local Krogers.  Now, no joy.
But the journey to the Mexican grocery store (maintaining social distance) resulted in plenty.  The look from the cashier when I dropped 24 of them (1/2 lb) on her scale was well worth the trip.   B)
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

I was looking for SAF Instant yeast and no one had any. Kept going back to the same places and finally, King Arthur had it back in stock. Took a couple of weeks to get it, but I did get it. Plus 10 lbs of bread flour. Now, they're out of stock again. Keep trying.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Went looking for brown rice and the whole section was nearly wiped out this week. Found a boil in a bag uncle Bens box so it’ll do. Other than that (and TP) everything else hasn’t been too badly picked over

We can get just about everything now except TP and paper towels. We did score a pack of Costco TP last week.

Ironically wings are about all I can find. No legs. No thighs. No bsl breast. Love me some wings so no complaints.

The yeast shortage is what prompted me making a sourdough starter. Luckily we have flour.

Grabbed a 25 lb bag of rice from the Asian market right when this thing started to take off.

Haven't had to get TP yet, but I hear it's still hard to find.

That's weird, come to Indy as we have been able to get bs breasts no problem.  Bring wings and I'll trade you.   ;)

Found some TP at CVS last week - had to ask for it and the dude had it behind the counter.  2 rolls per person limit.  Single ply.  Gotta say I'd almost rather do without.  Single ply sucks.

We haven’t been to the grocery store in almost a month. We ate our last fresh veggies tonight. It’ll be canned and frozen veggies from here out. I suspect we can go for at least 45 more days with ease.

The hospital cafeteria is selling some staples to employees. I know they had flour and TP (it's single ply though) yesterday. If would like I'll buy and you can pick up from my house.

Same goes for you @SciAggie (or anyone else) but not sure you want a 3 hour trip for TP or flour

Decent paper towels, bread flour, and less durable produce like parsley, Serranos, etc.

A vaccine,  PPE for SMBO (one N95 per week, one protective robe per shift, which is pathetic), and more body bags, because everyone is running out.

Other than that, I started stocking up on home supplies in Jan, so we are good there for a few months.

Dog food.  Seriously had to switch our dogs brand because I haven’t been able to get the usual since February when the first of the crazies came out.

Flour. Our usual online supplier has been out for weeks now. I'd be amazed if this is actually being used by all of the non-bakers as there is plenty of fresh bread in the supermarket.

Clorox wipes, yeast (have some, just wanting to replenish), vanilla protein shakes.  My wife legitimately uses Clorox wipes to clean things daily and also in her larger housecleaning process, when she runs out she is going to be pissed.

FYI - There is only one Clorox wipes manufacturing plant in the US.
