None of the models Kohler offer have water and electricity on the other side which seems to be standard for all manufacturers except Toto who offer Bidet seats models with electrical connection on the other side; see @Fred19Flintstone Brondell unit installation above for example. I realize the Brondell model only has a water connection on the right side. I had to choose a manufacturer and model to fit our older toilet with bolt holes 5.5" apart where most newer bidet seats have 6.5" pattern.

Single model with water and electricity on one side only is probably easier for supply chain, support, documentation. Also, water is usually on the right side of the toilet.

I asked about getting a longer cord installed by an electrician; 2nd level support would not enter any discussion about this because of warranty, even though the manual mentions replacement electrical cord. A  replacement cord is not shown as a part I could purchase on their site.

As I said in the original post "Have a 3' long industrial 15 amp, 12-gauge extension but the manufacturer warns against using extension chords". That extension could support up to 20 amp so I have to make a decision about using that and possibly voiding the 3 year warranty.

You are fine to use a extension cord, that is ridiculous.  If you follow the cord into the "machine" and if you can disassemble it easily, generally they use wire nuts or screws to make connections. In that case just buy a extension cord to your liking, cut the end off and wire it directly to your seat.

I guess I can see from a safety standpoint they would not want you to make a extension cord connection on the floor where it has a higher likelihood of getting wet from bad aim, or mopping etc.

My 15 amp GFCI outlet is 45" from the floor and my 15 amp extension is 36" long so the electrical connection from the toilet seat would be 9" above the floor so bad aim would be a very slim possibility =). Also, I'm old school and use a bucket with soapy water and a sponge to clean the bathroom floor and outer bowel. I would, of course disconnect the electrical power when cleaning the floor. It is just the warranty issue I need to come to terms with.

  • I have an unopened 45 roll pack from Sams yet. I had 5 rolls between the 2 toilets also.
Wife and I have only used 4 rolls so far during all this. I'm  still working, so usually do all my business at work during the week.
    Wife is working from home.
A 45 roll pack usually lasts us a year or more.

They'll only know you used an extension cord if you tell them. Just sayin. :)

Agree. Manufacturer put in no extension CYA clause to avoid liabilities in case someone used an improperly installed el cheapo dollar store extension cord and fried his bottom  =)

@SamIAm2 Just received my Brondell, cord is on the left. Not that it matters to me because I plan to install a new plug eventually anyway.

Unlike Kohler that conveniently disallows extension cord with a CYA (pun intended) clause, Brondell explains the extension cord protocol if one is necessary.

TMI, but I wrote down the date the last roll I put on, and one will last me exactly a month.  Have enough to last thru the next winter, so no need to buy more at this time as I'm high-risk.   ;)

@Canugghead - thanks for sharing. My extension meets those requirements so I'm "covered".  =) Still not used to not wiping but hey, my TP count is going down much slower!

You might need some fiber in your diet FWIW.

Actually the original March 11 order was cancelled by Costco after waiting almost 1.5 months (backordered twice). Reordered different model Thursday evening, arrived before 6:30 AM Saturday, go figure!

I received and installed a bidet attachment to the royal throne a couple days ago.

As you can see, this cold water unit adds a little jump to the morning constitutional.  So far, it works as advertised and we kinda like it.  I bet it’s worth every penny we spent on it the day after eating some spicy food.
Installed second one identical to yours, pretty nice but not as much as the first one that costs 7.5 times of course.
@Botch the two nozzles are behind the shield in the centre, one for front job one for rear, they protrude under pressure when tap is turned on. Tap control is intuitive, Right for rear, leFt for front.
The water channels are in the flat panel, the arm is kind of fleecy but there are two thick gauge stiff wires that reinforce it.

My favorite is one more sheet than I need. Anything more is not needed.
