I took one of those click bait IQ tests once.  No way I have an IQ of 148.  Maybe decades earlier before I decided to do the Darwinism thing with bourbon and brain cells.  The ones that are left are hard to kill.

Rode the train from Hartford in roughly 2004, drank a half fifth of makers before going out on the town, I distinctly remember not having a hangover the next day.
Hartford is a beautiful city😁.  I went into an all black McDonald's back around 82. Uncomfortable for this nh guy. At the counter a young white girl put her book down, took my order, made my burger and fries, took my money, went back and grabbed her book. Hope that's a bit different now. My neighbor at camp in mane feels the same, black Jewish American princess, no chance at the general store. Great person and friend

Hartford is a dump.  I went in 82 because someone told me the fries at the all black McDonald’s are the best.  It was scary but those fries were worth it and at least the white girl served me.  You might think I’m racist or an antisemite but I also have a black friend who is also Jewish, so think again.

When you can’t persuade anyone and your charts are shown to be a misleading distraction and you live in a cesspool yourself, then you and the pack of slobbering sycophants just try to attack and ridicule the messenger. Pretty standard fare around these parts. Ho hum.

P.S. If John scored a 99-100 on a professionally administered critical thinking test I’d be shocked. I base this skepticism on his displays of logic here, on this platform. It is possible this data is skewed or flawed, but I’d be shocked. 😁😁😁😁😁😁

Yeah you won’t catch me pointing to the results of some test to try and prove how smart I am, so you’ve got me there.

The nice thing about stats and graphs is that they can be made to show any result you want.  Show a graph with 2K crimes, but forget to mention that it is out of 8.5 million people.

I’m just saying it was John who dismissively suggested he was the champion of critical thinking. He kinda suggested that if you had a differing option or point of view it was due to one’s inability to critically think. I know of his acolytes love for statistics so I thought I’d mention the test. It measures one’s ability to think critically. Again, just responding to John’s demeaning comments. That’s all. 🤷🏼‍♂️😁😁😁😁

Oh... is that what a critical thinking test measures?  Thank you for explaining that.  I'm not sure folks here would have been able to figure that out otherwise.

The sandwiches at Katz' Deli are too damn big unless you don't plan to eat dinner.  Best to spit them.

If we're still talking about recommendations for NY, I really liked going to Carmine's Italian Restaurant in NYC.  REALLY big portions, good food, reasonably priced (consider one plate pasta is EASY for 2 hungry people).
Napoleon Prestige Pro 665, XL BGE, Lots of time for BBQ!
  • Becco is a good place I've been to, not far off Times Square:

I want to say I had their sampler.  They basically just keep coming around with really great Italian food and you just take some if you want it.  Come hungry.

I hope you’re still planning to go, and that bullet-proof vests aren’t too expensive these days.

Still going.  In fact we already have a reservation at Smith and Wollensky’s.

Truth - it’s a rare thread that doesn’t go off the rails around here.

Great call, classic NYC steakhouse ! I live in Manhattan and would say don't freak out too much about reservations, save for a few places. More often than not places don't take them, but if you go by early enough in the evening like 5 or 6 you can put your name in and they will text you when the table is ready. Usually the wait will be an hour or 2 and it gives you time to grab a drink or explore a neighborhood.

Some good places I've been to recently: Nowon (takes reservations), Joe and Pat's, Don Angie, I Sodi, KJUN if you're in midtown east.

Feel free to message me if you have any other questions.

We are headed back to NYC next Tuesday, SWMBO is having surgery at HSS. Having dinner at Hawksmoor this time - British steakhouse that has really good reviews.

Thanks @slick_rick.  We are headed there for marathon weekend, my wife is running it.  It also happens to be my birthday so we are making a long weekend out it.  We are staying right by Bryant park so she can take the bus to the start line.  We figured if a restaurant lets us get a reservation now we might as well book it, can always change later.

Good luck to her.  I wish it were more of a pleasure visit.

But, I had to do a double-take at "British Steakhouse". That isn't the first country I think of when I think of steak.  I hope it is awesome, you will have to tell us about it.

@Hoster05 - Congrats to your wife for scoring a slot in the race.  What a scene to be a part of.  That alone is the high point of your trip.  Enjoy across the board.
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

Highly recommend KJUN (www.kjun.nyc).  Had the Japchae Boudin app. My kid had the Andouille and Grits, and I had the Jambalaya. Both were incredibly tasty, and Kimchi added to Jambalaya is a great mashup, it just works. If you get a chance I highly recommend this place.

We didn’t end up going to Hawksmoor, the British steakhouse I mentioned earlier as we received an 11th hour change to the surgical plan which upset SWMBO and she wasn’t in any mood to go out. Maybe after she is discharged.

Interesting.  Korean Cajun fusion is not something that would’ve occurred to me, but I can imagine how it works.

Agreed, I would never have thought to fuse those two cuisines together either, but it was definitely a place I would hit up often if I lived here.

Not  likely since he was hammered long before Feb 12.

Edit: by the way, it wasn’t me that called NYC a crap hole although my post made it appear so, lol
