  • My daughter is in 6th grade and I had a hard time answering her questions yesterday.  I left out the part about people leaping from burning buildings.

I was working for a company who supplied the desktop communication devices for ~ 90 percent of the brokerage firms in those buildings. We lost three onsite engineers at Cantor that morning and more spread between the two. I really cannot understand how those people who were above the impact zone lived out their final hour.

    makes me sick.....

  • The last sentence above sums it up for me. The awful choices many innocent people had to make such as burn or jump has always stuck with me. Police and firefighters racing into hell to save others knowing they likely would not come back out. Ordinary people on a flight waiting until the plane was over a less populated area to stage their counter attack shows what heroes they are.
Inconveniences that we now go through because of this attack are trivial compared to what those people had to endure.
I remember where I was, but more importantly I remember the senseless slaughter of innocent people.

For the rest of us, NEVER Forget.
Exactly . Too many people have forgotten, or were kids when it happened and don’t have a clue. Others, some of which have positions of leadership in this country , just don’t care.

  • I was on a job site in Kansas City, my wife at a meeting in Denver and daughter at a meeting in Las Vegas.  I made a long road trip to bring them both home.  While driving across Kansas I saw license plates from almost every state in the country.  It was (and still is) a sober and eerie feeling of vulnerability.  thanks for posting...........Never Forget.

caliprince came home yesterday somewhat sad and morose, clutching a rather disturbing drawing of the tragedy. The folks at his daycare thought it would be a good idea to show elementary school age kids and kindergartners news footage of the 9/11 attack,  and draw it. His  friend was in tears,  saying he didn't want to jump from a building and die.

I'm still trying to process how this was thought to be a useful exercise.
@caliking -Total dumb$hit move right there.  But upon further review, perhaps the teachers weren't into double digits of age when it occurred so their reality is definitely been driven by the MSM ever since.  Regardless, not trying to come up with excuses but trying to sort out how anyone who recalls that day would ever need to revisit the footage, let alone show it to young children.  SMFH-

I've been trying to rationalize this since yesterday evening, and have not been able to. There are indeed some young teachers there, but enough people of sufficient age in their administration to know better.

Another 5yo  kid was terrified because his dad had to fly for work today, and he thought he would die.

I'm meeting with their administrators tomorrow, and promised caliqueen I will try to stay calm.

@caliking Would it not be better to start with the teacher and then (if necessary) talk to administration?  Been there (from all three perspectives)

I agree. I used the word administration loosely.  Will be meeting with teacher(s), their director for after school activities, and the owner.

And I apologise for diluting the original intent of this thread. I won't post anymore re: this matter.

I can remember where I was when I first heard the news of the unfolding events. It is something that I will never forget.
What I won't do is watch the anniversary news coverage. I don't want to see the video coverage of the tragedy. I will never forget it, but I also don't to relive it in video.
