There was one yesterday in the Mojave desert.
I'm at the coast and it shook pretty good and seemed like at least a minute or more.  No damages other than frightening the pets.

So for those who have never experienced one I'm probably 400 miles from Vegas. It wasn't a violent initial shock but it accelerating that makes you wonder when it's going to stop.

Down in san diego for the week.  We didnt feel a thing...but maybe it was all those sculpin beers....

I'm in Arizona and was working on Egg maintenance at the time it happened. When I came inside the local news said that it could be felt here in SE metro Phoenix. I didn't feel anything.
Hope all the CA Eggs are safe in their nests.

7.1 is a very powerful event. 11 times stronger than the 6.4.

Many years ago when living in San Diego there was a pretty healthy quake northeast of LA that we felt.  I remember later turning on the TV to catch some news (LA station) when the house started shaking, the broadcast TV pics were shaking and both news anchors informed the viewers that another quake was happening and they were outta there.  Fortunately minimal total damage compared to many other quakes.

Felt it pretty good here in Orange County, I’ll still take quakes over hurricanes and tornadoes though.

I agree.  We can see a hurricane coming weeks ahead of time.

That's true but with an earthquake all your stuff is where you left it. I guess I watched Wizard of Oz too many times growing up.

Experienced my first earthquake last year, and had a 4.8 last week (central Kansas).  They blame it on they oil drilling/fracking in this area.
Have been around tornadoes all my life, but not liking these quakes.
