If you like Belgian beer and food - go to Brasserie Beck. It's in DC. Bring some other beer drinkers/tasters. Have one of their bartenders help you select some beers for tasting and share them among you. Oh yeah, if you don't know if you like Belgian beer do it - and you will by the end of the night. Ditto for the food. Feel free to PM me before you go and I'll make some beer suggestions if you want.

Pork Barrel BBQ
The president of KCBS is part owner. We ate there last months before going to DizzyFest the next day. Pretty good! The same ownership group owns the sushi restaurant and the burger place all in the same building. We wanted to come back to the burger place, but ran out of time. http://www.holycowdelray.com/ -
i am headed that way tomorrow, great timing for this thread.

my favorite 2 places in the city right now are:
1) Rooster & Owl (https://www.roosterowl.com/) - needs reservations
2) Himtsu (https://www.himitsudc.com/) - you can walk up when they open and get a table or if they are full they will text when a table is ready. Gives you a chance to enjoy some of the locals bars.
If you like bourbon, check out Jack Rose (http://jackrosediningsaloon.com/). They have an overwhelming selection of bourbon. You should be able to uber from Alexandria easily
Most of the ones on this list are on the fru-fru side and a bit spendy (many are A LOT spendy)... but there are a lot of good ones:

Number 16 on the list, Bad Saint, is great as well. We try to go once a year. It is a very small space. I believe they take reservations now.
