Storm scones

We’ve had over 9” of rain in the past week or so. Some areas have had over 12”, and flooded. I’ve been having flashbacks to when  Harvey hit, though it is not nearly as catastrophic this time.

Anyways, I remember baking and cooking a fair bit back then, since we were stuck indoors and going stir crazy. Made scones one day, so figured I’d give it another whirl.

Pecans, pumpkin seeds, dried cranberries, dark chocolate chips. Brushed with maple syrup when they came out of the oven. These turned out even better than last time :)

I was in Houston last week ....  I will no longer complain about the snow here.  Cookies look great.

We usually don't get rain like this... but it snowed every year in Iowa. So I'll take my chances

We we have a shortage of baby bottom doctors here in GA.  Would you consider a transfer?  TIA
  • never had a scone but yours have peeked my interest.  Bakery, 30 miles away has them dailey, I make a trip app once a week there for donuts and a latte. Will have to try one.  Thanks for your post!

Scones are close to what we call biscuits. The British eggheads here (pinging @Eoin, @CPFC1905) may be able to elucidate the differences (or similarities).

It's been a long time since I've had a "real" scone, but I will say that the ones I've made have been pretty darn good.

A scone is a sweet version of what you call biscuits. Try bbc good food web site for recipes. Plain scones with jam and Cornish clotted cream FTW.

Heck dude everything you post is excellent. No doubt in my mind these were killer.

Had some folks up from Houston this weekend. I can't tell you how worried they were about their homes.

Harvey is still on their minds.

BTW, thank you for your work down there during that disaster.

That MO works very well for warm biscuits too :)

Some areas flooded that hadn't flooded during Harvey. We had 9"+, but some parts had 12" in the first few days. Many folks here had Harvey PTSD.

I volunteered with OBR for a few days after Harvey. The real trooper is my 83yo pops, who put in 3x the time. That man is a machine.
