Two weeks and will be on the road to Hiawassee for the Georgia Mountain Eggfest !! . . .

Time to start planning and buying food for one of the best of the fests. Beautiful location, great host, familiar friends and faces--could not ask for more. We will be easy to find as always, the National Championship (again) Tiger Tent and orange balloons. Will cook up some Raspberry Chipotle glazed ABT's , Cast Iron skillet shrimp and grits, Cuban Sammie's with Mojo pork butt cooked all night Friday, and some marinated pork tenderloin. Stop by and say Hi, and Go Tigers! Who's going, and who's cookin what?

    I will be there again this year, past two years as a taster, as a cook this year. My wife surprised me and signed me up as a cook. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

    Thanks John, lol. Now just dial us up some great weather. Looking forward to seeing everyone. And anyone on the fence about making the trip for this, Just Go!!. I have cooked in Atlanta several times, but this event is just heads and shoulders above Atlanta--great tasters interested in how to do it, etc. Not just there to eat. And don't miss the Friday meet and greet--that is the calm before the crowd on Saturday.

    Do people usually cook the same thing every year?

    I don’t know if folks cook same thing or not. I always have Cubans on my menu as this is the one fest where you can do an all night cook on Friday for the Cuban butts. I guess I have 6 or so recipes I pull from for Eggfests.

    Seems like shrimp and grits and raspberry chipotle ABTs are a regular staple too. Personally I always like to try new ideas, but I guess if you’ve got them locked in, why mess with a good thing?

    I like to do thin crust pizzas where you grill the crust first. But some things get too time consuming. Always a challenge to find something a little different than they normally are having off an egg and where you can do a lot or prep at home. As long as they keep taking my recipes I figure I am good to go. Lol
