Knowing that there has been an ownership change and a change in business model for the last 5 years I would want to try a bag or 2 before making a cannonball run with a trailer. That’s just me though.Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX

My thoughts are since royal oak bought the plant, this could just be royal oak in the ozark oak bags, but they should be producing it at the old ozark oak plant so it should be ozark oak type product.....my head hurts....the few bags I have used seems to just like original stuff but it has always been mixed in the egg or the good one Marshall. Haven't done an individual test.

Do we know for sure RO owns it?THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER

Lemme know your thoughts on it. I love Rockwood but $12/bag for OO (or less for bulk) is awfully appealing.Biggreenpharmacist said:might oughta let me see if I can ship you a couple small bags before you make that run. -
I’ve been using it since they went back to selling it last year. I didnt have an old bag to compare but its still good.

My sister came to visit from AR so I made sure she brought me a bag of Ozark Oak. I think the last time I had this product pre-Royal Oak it was labeled as Hasty Bake which I LOVED!!!I gave it a try this weekend and here's what I noticed:1. Lump size was "normal" and it appeared that all the lump was carbonized.2. Startup was slower than I'm used to. Eventually got grill up to temp. Probably took about 1.5X longer than Rockwood3. Definitely not flavor neutral. Smokey flavors even after it was up to temp for a while.Obviously the price is GREAT but I will only be using this (until it's gone) for quick grills. Any extended cooks will be done with Rockwood.I am unaffiliated with any of the charcoal vendors.Kirkland, TN2 LBGE, 1 MM

Sounds like the new product might be similar to the parent company’s (RO) current lump now.

Just for clarification, the original OO had a very sweet smell. I have a bag that is several years old (got it from Uncle Apple) at the inaugural Brisket Camp. To this day you can still smell the sweet smell through the bag even though it has been sitting in the shed for years.
When burning, it was incredible smelling. Not dirty or smokie smelling at all.Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.
